Arrests of comrades in Bangla Desh

     Four PBCP cadres including ‘regional leader’ arrested in Tangail District



Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested four cadres of outlawed Purbo Banglar Communist Party (ML-Red Flag) in Jamuna char area of Tangail Sadar upazila early yesterday. The arrestees are Mohammad Afzal Hossain, 32, a regional leader of the outfit, its members Mohammad Abul Hossain, 45, Mohammad Abdur Rahman, 32, and Abdur Rahim, 26. They all hail from Beguntal village in the upazila. A team of Rab-12, acting on a tip-off, raided the house of Afzal Hossain in the area at around 3:00am.
Sensing the presence of the elite force, Afzal opened fire to make his escape but he was arrested along with two pistols, five bullets and two magazines None was injured in the firing, said Additional Superintendent of Police Mohiuddin Faruqe, camp commander of Rab-12. According to Afzal’s confessional statement, the elite force in another drive arrested Abul Hossain, Abdur Rahman and Rahim in the same area. They also seized several lethal weapons, one kg of marijuana and Tk 7,900 from their possession. The four are accused in two cases, including one for murder, said the ASP.
