Kobane - Turkish soldiers as ISIS!

Kobanê Mother: ‘Turkish Soldiers Burned My Son To Death, No Different Than ISIS’

Hedlê Mihemed
Hedlê Mihemed is a mother from Kobanê who has 3 sons and 3 daughters fighting against ISIS in Rojava, according to a story from DIHA and carried in Özgür Gündem. Another son, Lokman,  joined the PKK in 1999 and lost his life in 2006. According to reports he was captured alive by Turkish soldiers and then burned to death. Showing his photograph to reporters, his mother Hedlê told DIHA that there is ‘no difference between ISIS and the military.’
It has after her son Lokman Ali (Rojhat Kobanê) was killed, Hedlê says, that her other children joined the freedom struggle. Lokman himself first joined at the capture of Kurdish Popular leader Abdullah Öcalan and served in Botan, Zap and Zagros.
Her Son Was Burned Alive
Lokman was taken captive together with a companion Salih Gezer (Serbest Kıçi) during clashes on July 22nd, 2006 on Gabar mountain. Hedlê explains how she later learned from his comrades that both Lokman and Salih were burned to death by the soldiers following their capture. After his death her other children began to join the freedom struggle. 3 of her sons now fight with the YPG while 3 of her daughters are fighting with the PKK. She herself was forced to flee the fighting with her disabled son, her wife and 2 grandchildren and is currently staying in the district of Pirsûs (Suruç) in Riha (Urfa) Province.
We Will Live In Kobanê
Hedlê Mihemed said ‘ISIS is burning people. Turkey also burned my son. I would have wanted to fight with my children against ISIS, which has the same attitude as Turkey. Hedlê added that she did not know the location of her son’s grave, saying ‘it is my greatest wish to find the bones of my son. I want to retrieve the bones of my son and live in Kobanê as it becomes free.’

India - workers' struggle - workers Convention and solidarity Forum in Delhi

ms2 (2)Delhi: Workers Convention in solidarity with workers of Gurgaon-Bawal Industrial area, Feb 27
Demanding the Release of all 147 Maruti Suzuki Workers in Jail for 2and a half years, and
In Solidarity with Struggling Workers in All Factories of Gurgaon-Bawal Industrial Area:

WORKERS CONVENTION
27 February 2015
10am to 5pm
Parshuram Vatika, Gurgaon

You are aware that the struggle, which workers in Maruti Suzuki Manesar have been waging
for our Trade Union rights since the June of 2011, has been facing ruthless joint repression by
the company management and state administration in the last 3 years. You are also aware that
on 18 July 2012, we were cornered by a management conspiracy. During the worker-
management dispute, which arose owing to the years of exploitation and immediate issue of
unjust suspension of a worker on that day, a management official died and the entire blame of
the same without any enquiry has since been foisted on the workers. Till date since then, we
have been facing continuous police repression. 147 workers are in jail for the last more than
two and a half years. In this context, it is again crystal clear before us that the judiciary of the
country work slavishly serving the interests of the capitalists.
With the stick of the incident of 18 July 2012, the company management terminated the jobs
of 546 permanent and trainee as well as 1800 contract workers. We are still relentlessly
waging the struggle against this injustice. But whether it be the former Congress government
or the present BJP government, both move to the tune of the Maruti management and
continue with the reign of repression on their behalf.
While the movement of Maruti workers against this injustice and exploitation continues, the
workers of various factories (Shriram Piston, Bajaj Motors, Minda group, Posco IDPC,
Talbrose, Autofit, Baxter, Munjal Kiriu, Asti, et al) from Gurgaon to Bawal industrial areas
also continue to struggle against this regime of joint exploitation by the management-
administration-police. All of these struggles and more in this area are facing repression,
getting battered, rising up again. In the last 4 years, it is these very actions and struggles of
workers in the entire industrial area that has acted as the primary source of inspiration for us.
Today, all of these struggles and the movement of the workers of Maruti Suzuki are forging
greater unity.
To stand upright in the face of the intense struggle between the capitalist class and workers
today, and also to give strength to our 147 Maruti comrades behind bars with the sincerity and
perseverance of the struggle, we want to take another step. To move forward in this path, we
have to strive for stronger unity among struggling workers across the country. We have a need
for solidarity from progressive student-youth as well as from the large section of toiling
masses who are in struggle in various democratic issues. As a step in this direction, we invite
all justice-loving and struggling workers’ representatives and those from mass movements to
participate in the WORKERS CONVENTION being organized on 27 February 2015.
Come, in these times of repression, let us forge our steps together and face this nexus of
owners-management-administration-police with our struggling unity!

Issued by Labour Solidarity Forum
An appeal to all democratic and progressive individuals and organizations to stand up for justice and support the Maruti Suzuki workers’ struggle and other working class struggles in Delhi-NCR in all possible ways.
Incidents of industrial accidents, often fatal but seldom reported by the media, have been occurring almost every day in the Delhi-NCR industrial belt—leading to mounting worker unrest that is described by media as a ‘‘law and order’’ problem and is dealt by the police and state authorities with mounting repression. The more than two and a half year long struggle of Maruti Workers and the brutal state-corporate repression faced by them is also an indicator of the simmering unrest among the working class, directly emanating from neoliberal policy framework of the country.
Life on the factory floor: Working and living conditions and salary norms of factories around Delhi-NCR industrial belt are atrocious to the extent of being inhumane. In the entire belt, working hours are very long, work is precarious due to the contractual nature of employment, wages are extremely low and workers are given no social security. Incidents of verbal abuse by management and physical abuse by “bouncers” are very common, and the workplace is tense with scrutiny of bouncers and police. Intensity of work is also inhumane- for example, in Maruti Suzuki, a sophisticated car is produced every 40-45 seconds (such is the speed of the conveyor belt in the assembly line production process- which is often increased without the knowledge, let alone consent of workers, and decreased during inspections), no breaks for water, toilet, etc. allowed to workers, an extremely short lunch break, forced overtime work, no paid leaves in case of illness or exigencies, and harsh rules of salary deduction on being late by even a few seconds (See: http://radicalnotes.com/2011/10/21/working-conditions-maruti-suzuki-english-subtitles/). Last year, a worker in Orient Craft died on the factory floor— while the management claimed it to be a heart attack, the workers maintained that he was electrocuted (http://sanhati.com/articles/9560/). In the same factory (different unit) two years ago, a worker was attacked by a manager by a large pair of scissors, cutting across his arm (http://archive.indianexpress.com/news/i-get-55-paise-for-every-piece-i-tailor-injured-orient-craft-worker/926261/). Both these incidents were followed by violent worker agitation. A week ago (11th Feb. 2015) a worker in Richa Global (Udyog Vihar) was badly beaten up by bouncers—he broke several bones and ribs, and is currently hospitalized. He had arrived for work 10 minutes late and was barred from entering the factory, indicating a termination of his contract. On refusing to leave without his due compensation, he was assaulted and left unconscious. This was also followed by a large worker agitation. In all these incidents, the mainstream media reported only the “workers gone on rampage”, completely missing the context.
As if regular worker assault is not enough, dissenting workers are frequently threatened with illegal lockouts- wherein firms illegally close down production, amounting to mass termination of workers (http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2012-08-06/news/33065681_1_haryana-labour-department-human-resource-manager-dues.) Also, the concept of prison-industrial complex is also being introduced in the country- where labour of prison inmates are exploited for industrial production with profit motive (http://www.business-standard.com/article/companies/now-an-auto-harness-plant-in-tihar-jail-114101800042_1.html). Production within the walls of a jail amounts to no labour laws, continuous working hours, and brutally suppressed voices of dissent.
Struggle for  unionization: In an organized attempt to fight such atrocities and for wage revision, workers of various industrial firms in Delhi NRC region have attempted to unionize themselves—however, these struggles are thwarted with terminations, threats, and blatant physical violence by managements. Maruti Suzuki workers of Manesar Plant had, after more than a year long struggle, managed to attain their legal and constitutional right to unionize. Despite all attempts by the management to thwart unionization, by threat and buying off some key leaders, Maruti Suzuki Worker’s Union (MSWU) was finally registered in March 2012 with the aim of safeguarding the basic legal rights of workers and to negotiate humane working conditions.
The corporate-state-media story of “violence”: It is in this context that the violent incident of 18th of July 2012, in which a high ranking manager died, is to be seen. The union has insisted that this was a deliberate attempt by the MS management, by bringing goons from outside, to weaken the strengthening worker’s movement in the plant- which was unifying the contractual and permanent workers and serving as an example to other production plants in the industrial area. After the violence broke out (the reason behind which has yet not been ascertained by any investigation), the MS management not only terminated 546 permanent workers at one go (without any domestic inquiry process), but also unceremoniously threw out around 200 apprentice workers and approximately 1800 contractual workers. On the instructions of Maruti management, 147 workers were arrested by Haryana Police- which included all the major leaders of the workers’ movement so far, and charged with arson and murder. They have been languishing in Bhondsi Central Jail near Gurgaon, since then, despite the fact that about 100-125 of them were not even present at the site at the time that violence broke out.
The workers of Maruti Suzuki have demanded an independent impartial probe into the incident of 18th July 2012, and into the role of the management in it. Meanwhile, the workers languishing in jail have appealed to the democratic, pro-people forces of the country for support (See: http://kafila.org/2013/03/27/letter-from-jail-maruti-suzuki-workers-union/). They have not been granted bail despite dire personal needs of their families. They are even denied brief payrolls in case of illness or death of family members. Many of them are suffering from diseases like tuberculosis and piles. Their families are suffering socially, emotionally and financially since most of these workers were lone bread-earners in the family.
The significance of Maruti workers’ struggle: What is most striking about this struggle is its tenacity, to sustain itself in the most repressive and hostile conditions; its ability to bring together permanent and contract workers, and to see political rights, particularly to form their union, as a precondition for their economic empowerment; and having a potential to bring the workers of the entire Delhi-NCR region together on these issues. It is this potential which is making the capital-state nexus jittery. The fact that they have been able to garner support from large section of masses, from countryside to metropolis, from farmers to students, apart from fellow workers, signifies an important and crucial turn in workers struggle in our country.
Continuing and intensifying attack on labour:  Despite the recent attack on the working class in the form of labor law reforms (which increase contractualization and precariousness of work in the disguise of labor market flexiblization, snatching away the democratic right of unionization), pro-corporate policies of all political parties, and surrender to the neoliberal diktat by all state governments and the central government, the struggles for unionization and better working/living conditions continue in various forms in different parts of the country. All of this comes in the context of “Make in India” and the slogan of “Shramev Jayate” which are designed to sound pro-growth and pro-development but in reality are very anti-working class. These schemes are meant to attract foreign capital to organize production in India, with the lure of highly subsidized land and energy resources, along with industrial belts where no labour law is binding.
While the movement of Maruti workers against this injustice and exploitation continues, the workers of various factories (Shriram Piston, Bajaj Motors, Minda group, Posco IDPC, Talbrose, Autofit, Baxter, Munjal Kiriu, Asti, et al) from Gurgaon to Bawal industrial areas also continue to struggle against this regime of joint exploitation by the management-administration-police. All of these struggles and more in this area are facing repression, getting battered, rising up again.
The courage and determination that these struggles have shown deserves our admiration and support. As a progressive section of the society, let us stand for workers’ rights, for dignity, and for justice.

India - police' s crimes against civilians in Bastar

29 dead in Bastar ‘fake encounters’
The outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) has accused the Bastar police of killing 26 “civilians” and three “political workers” in fake encounters in the last one year in different parts of Bastar. In a press statement sent to The Hindu , the south regional committee (SRC) secretary of the CPI (Maoist), Ganesh Uike, alleged that 20 “civilians” were killed by the police and paramilitary forces in Bijapur district of Bastar between January 2014 and January 2015.
“Five civilians were killed in fake encounters in Sukma district, and one villager was killed by the police in Dantewada district. All of them were later declared Maoists.” He said three of his party workers — Jamali, Rambatti, Lakshmi — were also killed in staged encounters. “In the name of containing Maoism, security men are violating human rights of Bastar tribals,” he added.

India - advances the adivasi's protest - the maoists continue armed struggle for the rights of poor in tribal areas.

An adivasi protest in Chhattisgarh is gaining strength
A protest that began last Monday with about 1,000 people has now swollen to more than 5,000. As Scroll reported last week, the arrest of a primary school cook, Hadma Mutchaki of Hamirgarh village, brought 1,000 adivasis to demonstrate outside Tongal police station in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on February 16. The police had charged Mutchaki with aiding the Maoists in the murder of a police informer...
Men, women and children sat on the national highway outside the police station, blocking it for 17 hours, and bringing all road traffic between Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh to a halt. The next day, activists Soni Sori and Bela Bhatia persuaded the protestors to move from the highway to a ground near the police station. But the protest itself did not dissipate. It gained strength after the police detained three of the protestors, Hidma Kawasi, Ramji Mandavi and Podiyami Budhra. The final straw came when the three men emerged from police custody with injury marks. They alleged they had been beaten up while in custody. As the news spread, thousands of adivasis from villages across Darbha, Kuakonda, Chhindgarh and Sukma blocks of Bastar and Sukma districts converged on Tongpal on Thursday.

KORAPUT: The Maoists would continue their armed fight against police for the rights of poor in tribal areas, stated secretary of Koraput-Srikakulam Divisional Committee of Maoists in a press release on Monday. “Maoist outfits in Narayanpatna have been working since long for tribal rights and have been successful in ending the harassment by landlords. The liquor trade has been stopped and the land of tribals returned to them through revolutionary means,” it stated.
Opposing the Green Hunt operation of police in the region, Daya stated in the release that the efforts of the State and the Centre to stop Maoist movement in Narayanpatna would fail as they would continue their revolution. “The police operation has motivated the landlords to exploit the tribals again. Our fight is for saving the tribal land, forest and ensuring that the tribals have their share of all round development,” it stated.

One COBRA jawan killed, 15 injured in Maoist blast in Imamganj area
GAYA: In what appears to be a retaliatory action, members of the People’s Liberation Gurellia Army, the armed wing of the Maoists, on Tuesday evening engineered a blast that blew up a vehicle carrying nearly one dozen COBRA personnel, the elite anti-Naxal force engaged in the drive to free the Naxal infested areas from red terror. At least one COBRA personnel was killed and 15 others were injured in the Maoist attack. Confirming the Maoist operation, CRP DIG Chiranjeev Prasad said that three of the personnel were critically injured and about a dozen others were grievously hurt in the blast. The slain personnel has been identified as head constable Gulab Yadav said the CRPF DIG.
Ambulances from the nearby places including Imamganj and Sherghati have been rushed to rescue the injured jawans. The rescue operation was getting hampered due to darkness. Asked about air lifting of the injured personnel, the CRPF DIG said that a chopper cannot be made to land at the blast site at this point of time. “A chopper was requisitioned in the divisional head quarters in Gaya to airlift the injured personnel to Patna or any other place for better medical assistance,” said the DIG The severe IED explosion that caused extensive damage, took place while the COBRA personnel were returning to their base in the Imamganj area after a day-long operation against the Maoists. As the vehicle neared Salaiya Mor in the Naxal infested Dumaria- Imamganj area, the waiting Maoists triggered the blast probably through a sophisticated remote controlled device. After engineering the IED blast, the Maoists also fired on the COBRA jawans. Further details are awaited.

Greece - Syriza, Manolis Glezos, crítica acuerdo con el Eurogrupo

Tsipras y Manolis Glezos

India - Condemns the Murder of Comrade Govind Pansare and Comrade Uma Pansare - a fascist crime!

AIFRTE
February 23, 2015
AIFRTE Condemns the Murder of Comrade Govind Pansare
All India Forum for Right to Education (AIFRTE) expresses its deep condolences on tragic death of veteran communist leader, trade unionist and prominent critic of right wing forces, Comrade Govind Pansare following a murderous attack on February 16. In an attack reminiscent of the murder of Dr. Narendra Dabholkar in 2013, Comrade Pansare was attacked by motor-bike borne assailants in Kolhapur as he was returning from his morning walk with his wife Comrade Uma Pansare. The pistol-toting, muffler-covered gunmen repeatedly shot at him. Comrade Pansare was struck thrice on his chest and neck, while Comrade Uma Pansare suffered a depressed skull fracture on the left side of her head.
We condemn this cowardly murder of 82-year old leader of the people of Maharashtra. Comrade Govind Pansare was an uncompromising fighter for the rights of the most marginalised sections of society and an indefatigable propagandist for peace and secularism. He was closely associated with various social movements, especially the movements of the unorganised sector workers, such as farm laborers, domestic helps, auto-rickshaw union, milk producers, slum dwellers and others. Recently, he was leading an anti-toll agitation in Kolhapur. He was also a very prolific writer and very popular public speaker. One of his most popular writings was a book on Chatrapati Shivaji, ‘Shivaji Kaun Hota?’ (Who was Shivaji?). Basing himself on historical documents, he had shown in this book how Shivaji was an extremely secular and people’s king, as against the portrayal of Shivaji as a Hindu king by communal outfits. Communal outfits were strongly opposed to this secular portrayal of Shivaji, and had repeatedly tried to obstruct the sale of this book, despite which the book sold a record one lakh copies in Maharashtra, apart from being translated into several Indian languages.
With the rise of right wing forces in the country, and their coming to power both at the Centre and in Maharashtra state, Com. Pansare had launched an aggressive campaign to expose their real pro-corporate and anti-people agenda. He had launched a campaign against the two-faced strategy of the BJP using the name of Mahatma Gandhi on one hand and glorifying Nathuram Godse on the other.
Pansare had received numerous threats for his bold stand against right wing forces. Only recently, he had been threatened with dire consequences during a lecture in Shivaji University, where he had condemned the exercise of glorifying Gandhi’s killer in the strongest words.
First the killing of Dr. Dabholkar, and now this murderous attack on Com. Govind Pansare, are an indication of the growing offensive of fascist forces in the country. Fascist right-wing forces are out to strangulate and silence voices that are speaking out in defense of rationalism, secularism, democracy and socialism, fundamental tenets of the Indian Constitution. We strongly condemn these attacks, and pledge our support to the struggle of these stalwarts, and reiterate our resolve to advance their struggle.

Greece - clashes with police in the time of Syriza's government

A Toulouse... A Toulouse...

Brasile CARTA DO PRESO POLÍTICO IGOR MENDES DIRETAMENTE DA PRISÃO

07/2/2015 – 66º dia de detenção
À CAMPANHA PELA LIBERTAÇÃO DOS PRESOS POLÍTICOS;
Companheiros (as):

A burguesia e o proletariado som as duas principais classes sociais modernas.
A “indignaçom social” renegou do podre parlamentarismo.
Ademais para poder substituir a lei do estado burguês pola lei do estado proletário som necessárias as massas armadas e organizadas conscientemente.

Release of fact-finding report, War and the Lightness of Being Adivasi: Security camps and villages in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh
18th February, 2015
Between December 26th and 31st 2014, a PUDR fact-finding team visited 9 villages of Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh to ascertain reports of arrests, intimidation and harassment, including sexual abuse by security forces who are stationed there to fight the Maoists. Predominantly Adivasi villages, the residents of Basaguda, Kottaguda, Pusbaka, Lingagiri, Rajpeta, Timmapur, Kottagudem, Korsaguda and Sarkeguda, narrated the daily acts of violence and violations committed by armed personnel residing in security camps. Apart from documenting the continuance of ‘area domination’ by the security forces, the report draws particular attention to:
1. The large number of ‘permanent warrants’ issued against the populace, of which a significant number is declared as ‘absconders’. A rough estimate indicates that as many as 15-35,000 people live under the threat and fear of these warrants in Bijapur alone.
2. The lawless conduct of the armed personnel and Special Police Officers (SPOs) who routinely raid, beat, loot, detain and compel the Adivasi villagers to perform ‘begar’ (free labour) at the security camps. Instances of sexual torture were also noted.
3. The impossibility of lodging FIRs against the security forces as against the rising number of arrests of villagers who languish in jails.
4. The intensification of armed presence on account of increased road building activity by the army for securing supply lines to the camps. Roads are opened only after road opening exercises by the forces followed by routine interception of passengers at frequent check-posts and road barriers.
5. The further harassment faced by villagers during travel on account of armed personnel in civilian buses plying between Bijapur and Basaguda. In flagrant disregard of international covenants, the security forces deliberately regard passengers as ‘human shields’ against possible encounters.
6. The impact of camps on the living conditions of the Adivasi villagers which have been severely affected. The decrease in agricultural activity is a definite consequence of harassment as is the fall in family income and wages. Besides poor health facilities, the existing school system which utilized local village helpers is being intentionally replaced by ‘ashram schools’ which aim to wrench the Adivasi children from their homes and village environment.
7. The intensity of the present situation is comparable to and a continuance of the Salwa Judum activities—eviction and mass displacement of villagers between 2005 and 2009. The present brutality has only underlined the earlier misery of displacement and attempted rehabilitation which the villagers were compelled to undergo.
8. Despite recurrent incidences of bomb explosions and targeting of the roads by the Maoists, the villagers fear the security camps as it is the armed personnel who punish and brutalize them.
9. In tandem with periodic massacres, the daily harassment is part of the dual strategy of the State’s war in the region.
10. The intention behind the present military initiative is to cleanse the area for redoubled mining activity. The effort is directed towards eroding the Adivasi will in resisting the State and in compelling them to be receptive towards official overtures.

Brasil - Free the Political Prisoners!

Igor_Mendes2-286x405
The modern and neat image the Brazilian state wished to present last summer for the World Cup was severely undermined by the mobilization of hundreds of thousands of people, who claimed the streets and rebelled in all major cities where games were held. Unable to crush these demonstrations with their police bullies, the “leftist” government of Brazil resorted to its judiciary apparatus, making preventive arrests of dozens of activists of mass organizations in a series of raids coordinated the eve of the final game on July 12. Twenty-three people were then charged for their alleged involvement in organizations that advocate for people’s rights in Brazil—in addition to the hundreds of others who were arrested in the protests themselves.
A large movement then started to demand their freedom, which exposed the false “democracy” of the Brazilian state. Among those arrested was Comrade Igor Mendes da Silva, an activist from the Popular and Revolutionary Student Movement (MEPR) at Rio de Janeiro’s State University also involved with the People’s Independent Front (FIP-RJ)—a militant umbrella organization that seeks to unify the various movements, groups, organizations and individuals who have been at the forefront of popular mobilizations. First arrested during the July 12 raid, Igor Mendes was again arrested on December 3 under a warrant issued by a judge of the Criminal Court. The state accuses him of having attended a cultural festival in support of political prisoners held on October 15, thus breaking his conditions of release, which required non-participation in a “gathering liable to disturb peace.”
His arrest came while he was campaigning for the Executive of the Student Union at his university. Two months later, at the time of going to press, Igor was still being held at the Bangu prison. In a statement released after his arrest, the MEPR condemned the “illegitimate state government” of the PMDB that was largely defeated by the numbers of invalid votes and abstentions in the last elections. The right-wing party is supported by the “leftist” president Dilma Rousseff and by the big bourgeois media, which stigmatize the grassroots activists.
“Mired neck-deep in corruption and fearing the popular rebellion that thunders as the economic crisis worsens, the current witch hunt prepares a fascist and even larger police crackdown,” says the MEPR. The student organization rejects “these attempts to isolate and criminalize popular protests, the MEPR and other independent activists and organizations that make up the FIP-RJ,” and demands immediate freedom and the abandonment of the charges against all activists who are facing repression for defending the people’s right to rebel. The Partisan calls its readers and supporters—especially student activists and organizations—to support the political prisoners in Brazil and take action to publicly expose the Brazilian state.
