Warangal: Maoists have called for a bandh in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Dandakarayna on March 7 in protest against the killing of nine naxals in a police encounter on March 1 in Chhattisgarh. Maoist spokesperson for the Telangana region Jagan condemned the encounter that took place at Bottem village in south Bastar region and called it as a fake encounter.
Two naxals from Warangal district had died and their last rites were held in Warangal on Friday. In a press statement distributed to media persons during the funeral of the slain Maoists, Jagan said the police caught unarmed Maoists, tortured them and killed them cruelly. Navatha and Anitha were attending nature calls while Soni, Rami and Deve were sick. They were not in a position to resist when they were killed by the police, he said. The state and central government led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Prime Minister Narendra Modi respectively have launched ‘Operation Red Hunt’ as part of third phase of ‘Operation Green Hunt’ to eliminate Maoists, he alleged.
