On the problems raised in the chapter of Spanish State of the International Committee of support for the People’s War in India.
In our opinion there are several levels on this issue.
First, how did this situation emerge. There was an initial agreement for an International Committee to support the PW in India in the Spanish State, to develop the campaign 2 - 9 April. This campaign was successful, there was also a book published for the initiative of Odio de Clase, and signed by the International Committee in Support of PW in India.
Second, after the release of the joint statement of the May Day, came the question of the signature of the CPN-U (m). Here, along with criticism of the joint statement of the May Day and the signature of the CPN-U (m), OdC broke the Committee and the campaign.
While the criticism of the message and signature of the CPN-U (m) are legitimate – each party or organization can make decisions on the type of relationships with other organizations – is unacceptable to break the International Committee in support of PW in India. First, because this committee has a limited task, to support the PW in India; secondly, because even the CPI (Maoist) had signed the joint statement of the May Day; thirdly, because the CPI (Maoist) thanks the International Committee of support; in fourth place, the International Committee includes other forces, from other countries and therefore it moves in a context in which the different positions that exist at national level are not the decisive factor for the Committee work plan.
For all these reasons, the attitude of Collective OdC is the support in the speeches the PW and the boycott in the facts, and they use the Committee only if it has their positions and not to develop the widest possible support.
In this regard, the International Committee takes a strong stand of criticism and condemnation of the attitude of OdC. And the IC in Spain should continue its work.
The Committee thanks all the forces in various ways have supported the campaign 2-9 April and calls to continue this work and discuss new proposals for initiatives to prepare the International Conference of support the PW in India scheduled for the summer 2012.
International Committee in Support of PW in India.
