KATHMANDU, MAR 22 – A meeting of six Maoist parties including UCPN
(Maoist), CPN- Maoist among others, has decided to take up the
joint-agitation citing the past pacts and agreements were not
implemented. The meeting held at CPN-Maoist party office in Buddhangar
on Sunday, in a bid to take forward the negotiation for their
unification, has called for a nationwide protest on April 6. The six
Maoist parties have decided to organise an interaction programme on
March 28 in a bid to mount pressure on the government to implement the
past peace agreements.
Likewise, the meeting also decided to resurrect the taskforce formed
to take ahead the dialogues for unification among UCPN (Maoist) and
CPN-Maoist. Similarly, the meeting decided to pile pressure on the
government for delaying the distribution of relief packages to the war
victims. UCPN (M) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan
Baidya, CPN Maoist Chairman Netra Bikaram Chand and Matrika Yadav among
other leaders were present at the meeting.
Likewise, leaders Baburam Bhattarai, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Krishna
Bahadur Mahara, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi and CP Gajurel, Ram Bahadur Thapa
and Dev Gurung from CPN-Maoist party were also present in today’s
meeting. The meeting is a follow-up after the parties, last week, formed
dialogue committee for unification process. The committee members
comprises of top leaders from both the parties.
