The Bombay High Court today extended by around three months the
temporary bail granted to former Delhi University Professor G.N.
Saibaba, arrested for alleged Maoist links, considering his
deteriorating health condition. On June 30, the High Court granted him
temporary bail for three months to undergo medical treatment for
multiple ailments, including a degenerative spine disease. The bail was
granted by a Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Mohit Shah, which
had converted into public interest litigation (PIL) a letter written by
activist Purnima Upadhyay. — PTI
