India - Maoist posters found in Salboni
Midnapore/Hooghly: Maoist posters criticizing the Mamata Banerjee government were recovered from Jangalmahal on Wednesday, pointing to increased activity of the red guerillas in the area. Trinamool MLA and former cop Rachpal Singh added fuel to the Maoist rage by showcasing Maoist leader Kishenji’s killing as a success of the Mamata government. “It was an instance of good governance. During the Left Front regime, Maoist leaders and their cohorts used to roam freely, daring the government to take them to task. Mamata has brought peace in Jangalmahal, just like she did in Darjeeling,” the Trinamool MLA said.
Maoists have sent a warning to Trinamool workers, asking them to give an undertaking that they will resign from all party posts. Police sources said the posters have been recovered from the Salboni area by the CRPF patrolling party. This is the third time in two weeks that such posters – 12 of them – were recovered from the area. Combing operations are on to identify those who put up the posters. Security in the adjoining villages has been tightened.
