Brazil - AND: Editorial - Only revolution will save Brazil from barbarism •- English editions

The recent scenes of destruction of the Paraguayan parliament revived in memory the events of 2013 when the enraged youth set part of the Tiradentes Palace on fire, seat of the legislative power of Rio de Janeiro. They also recalled the latest struggles of civil servants with unpaid salary and threatened to lose their rights.
Speaking of the people's revolt, it has become routine the protest of the slum populations against executions and stray bullets promoted by the Military Police. Acari, Chapadão, Cidade de Deus, Maré, Alemão, Manguinhos, Morro dos Macacos, Lins Complex and Dona Marta are just a sample of the last fifteen days of the reactionary civil war unleashed against the people by the Brazilian ruling classes through its old state With the encouragement and cynical justification of the press monopolies.
For evil or good, Rio de Janeiro has been the showcase of the daily genocide that the State carries out in the whole country. In fact, Rio is the most explicit reality of the revolutionary situation that develops in Brazil.
On the one hand, we have since 2013 the accusations against Cabral, still governor, when teachers and the youth have sieged him which culminated in his resignation. Since then  corruption revelations came from Cabral, Cunha, Cavendish, Odebrecht, Moreira Franco, Pezão, Eduardo Paes, Picciani, Eike Batista and now the summit of the State Court of Audit, which should include at least one hundred more noble occupants of the cluster of sumptuous penthouses in Leblon, São Conrado and Barra da Tijuca.
The shameless robbery in Petrobrás and in the state coffers and the Rio de Janeiro city hall had the effect of transforming, overnight, insignificant patrimonies into strong glamorous ones. Homeric parties, indescribable journeys, jewels, gifts, and expensive drinks were all part of the limitless waste, daughter of stratospheric burglary.
The exaggerated corruption as a modus operandi of this backward bureaucratic capitalism has its most exposed face in the state of Rio de Janeiro bankrupt situation. This situation only increases exponentially the endemic poverty of the population, abandoned in the basic issues of social life such as health, education, transportation, housing, sanitation, permanently at the mercy of state violence and delinquency.
Far from thinking that this situation only occurs in Rio de Janeiro. This is also the reality of states such as Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul and others, all around Brazil. What happens is that in Rio de Janeiro the ruling classes bunch was strengthened by the assurance that, for the rich, the crime compensates, as indeed the sentenced fulfilling house arrest prove to us.
On the other side of the coin, Rio de Janeiro is the most frightening showcase for the ruling classes and their pack of politics. Taking as a milestone the great demonstrations of 2013, against the Confederations Cup, against the World Cup, for the punishment of the military regime torturers, against the measures of Cabral, the boycott of the electoral farce in 2014 and 2016 resulting in the very low number of "elect" votes, the demonstrations against the withdrawal of the servants and of the workers in general rights with the reactionary reforms in Social Security and Labor, and, mainly, the daily protests of the residents of neighborhoods and slums against the coward police repression and for public services access. All these demonstrations are clearly the evidence that the people no longer accept to live under the heel of the old order and is indicating that only by violent revolt they can defend themselves against the injustices, abuses, exploitation and savagery of this genocidal state, the chaos in which It sinks the country, straight to the barbarism.
Tired of seeing nothing happen or worsening the electoral promises of all the acronyms of the single and unbelieving party of the notorious Democratic State of Law institutions, State of the ruling classes to oppress and exploit the masses, all that remains is for the people to fight for a revolution.
A revolution carried out by the united front of the dominated classes, under the hegemony of the proletariat: the working class and the vast urban semiproletariat, the mainly poor peasantry, quilombolas, teachers, civil servants, small and medium proprietors (of industries, commerce, services And the countryside), indigenous peoples, along with all the oppressed people. The New Democracy revolution to sweep semifeudality, bureaucratic capitalism and imperialism, based on the confiscation of latifundia, the confiscation and nationalization of the banks, the properties of imperialism, the local big bourgeoisie, and the cancellation of internal and external debts.
With such resources, the Revolution could implement the delivery of land to poor peasants without land or land, promote domestic production with labor, food, education, health, transportation, housing and sanitation for the entire population, since, unlike the democratic promises the Revolution will have in its hands the resources coming from the confiscation of the exploiters of the people.
