The political-social-military action on 7 October 2023 was carried out by the Palestinian resistance forces, whose majority force is Hamas. Mut the Palestinian organizations that participated and supported the action of 7 October 2023 are 6, belonging to the different social and political trends within Palestinian people. In these ones the Palestinian people recognize themselves, in their vast majority in Gaza and in their unverified majority in West Bank, where the Palestinian National Authority led by Abu Mazen had until then prevented elections, which according to observers would also have given Hamas the victory in the West Bank.
This is the first point to be stated 4 months after the attack on the State of Israel, its army and the illegal Israeli settlements on the borders of the Gaza Strip by the Palestinian resistance, which must be given full support. “Full support” means to support all the organizations that represent it, full support means to recognize that Hamas is the majority organization currently present within the Palestinian people.
In this framework, those who support the Palestinian people and support their resistance have the right/duty to support what the people, through the resistance organizations, carry out.
Furthermore, refuting Israel's lies, a long document in English by Hamas explained the reasons of that action, the line of conduct and the current demands largely shared by the majority of the Palestinian people. It was translated into Italian by the Peace Association, which certainly cannot be considered close to the Islamic world to which Hamas refers, and much less a terrorist organization.
In front of the demonization, criminalization and infamy carried out against the action of October 7th, we must make this document known to the workers and the people’s masses of our country, so that they can assess with full knowledge of the facts the grounds of October 7th, the reasons of the Palestinian people and their current demands.
12 PM Red Workers Counter-information and the main organizations referring to -the Marxist-Leninist-Maoist communists of proletari comunisti engaged in the construction of the MLM revolutionary communist party in Italy, the union which refers in its autonomy to proletari comunisti, the Slai Cobas for the class union, the revolutionary women's organization, the Revolutionary Proletarian Feminist Movement; the International Committee in Support to the People's War in India, the main people's war currently existing in the world- and the sympathizers of these organizations are on the side of the Palestinian resistance, share the motivations at the basis of the action of October 7th, carry out in our country an information and counter-information and organize with all available areas the pro-Palestine mobilization, the exposure of Israel, and participate in the ongoing initiatives, particularly the continuous and important ones held in Milan all Saturdays, which never stopped, not even during the Christmas period.
Precisely for this reason, we supported and took action, clearly together with many others, for the complaint to the European Court of Justice, with a document signed at a national and international level by various associations, lawyers, intellectuals, etc.
This document is still the reference for the proceedings currently taking place at the European Court of Justice, which has taken its first step by considering admissible the prosecution of the State of Israel, the Netanyahu government, in a trial for war crimes trial and genocide.
This complaint was brought to discussion in the European Court of Justice by the South Africa, which referred to its history and its historical leader, Nelson Mandela, and the battle against all forms of racism, discrimination and apartheid.
It is supported by many countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
As well as we have worked since the beginning, in supporting the demonstrations, for a wide participation and the sharing of the vanguard units of the working class, the youth organizations and the students movement, the women who already on November 25th in the large demonstration of 500,000 people in Rome had expressed their solidarity with Palestinian women and condemned the action of the State of Israel, supported by American imperialism and gradually by all the other imperialist powers in the world, with a supporting role of the Italian imperialist state through its government led by Meloni, which this way is complicit in what is happening in the Gaza and Palestine.
In response to the legitimate, justified and necessary action of the Palestinian resistance, the Nazi-type Zionist state of Israel, led by the ultra-reactionary government of Netanyahu -considered as such even by large sectors of the population within the State of Israel- developed a retaliation that has gradually taken the shape of a genocide, causing has so far over 27,000 deaths and hundreds of thousands of injuries. Not the “Hamas shrines”, they destroyed the houses of an entire population, hospitals, aid structures, hit women, children and young people, who are the majority of the Palestinian people. Israel has committed unspeakable crimes that recall the worst historical experiences, from the genocide of the Jews by the Nazi state, to the practices of annihilation and destruction carried out by imperialism against peoples in a number of historical circumstances.
Facing all this, the Palestinian people withstood, and they continue resisting. The Palestinians from Gaza are not only the target of a genocide, but also an attempt of total expulsion from their homes. Zionists hypothese for them a destiny of lifelong refugees in places far from their land. Someone even proposes to sent them to Africa.
This is a real crime, a genocide that must be condemned. And to no extent should it succeed.
In this sense, the unconditional solidarity with the Palestinian people, the opposition with the utmost firmness to the genocidal plans of the Israeli State, the condemnation of its crimes, shared by American imperialism and all the governments that support the Israeli State, must be relentless and with no attenuation.
Having said this, it is clear that today, as things stand, we need the demands of the day by the Palestinian people to be achieved. These demands are also the subject of negotiation between the resistance organizations across Qatar, in various places, including the Paris conference: release of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the release of hostages; permanent ceasefire, with a view to Israeli invasion and aggression troops abandoning Gaza and giving the Palestinian people a legitimate state.
We share these demands and think that they should be at the center of all types of mobilization taking place in the forthcoming days.
But two points more must be considered.
The aggression war on Palestine, the resistance of the Palestinian people against the genocidal plans of destruction of the Palestinian people conducted by the Israeli State, supported by imperialism, have given rise throughout the region to a broad solidarity with the Palestinian people among all Arab peoples and the entire Muslim world and throughout the Middle East and each State that in this region.
In the face of this, it is clear that solidarity to the Palestinian people was and must be put into the practice attacking the State of Israel, attacking the imperialist forces that support Israel, through the economic boycott and damaging the economic interests of the criminals who want to destroy the Palestinian people throughout the area.
In this sense, we unconditionally support the political-military actions of solidarity with the Palestinian people developed in the region, which are improperly defined as actions of the “Houthi”. Indeed, it is the State of Southern Yemen, in whose government Houthi people has majority.
These attacks have put into question the moves of ships and economic and military interests. We take side with these attacks and think that they should continue until the Palestinian question finds a solution, in the interests of the Palestinian people and the re-establishment of peace throughout the area.
Instead of solving the problem that gave rise to the attacks on vessels crossing the Suez Canal, US imperialism and its main ally, Great Britain, have unleashed a military offensive against those they consider responsible of this attack. They hit not only military but also civilian targets of the Houthi people.
At the same time, US imperialism has worked to extend the war and to support the State of Israel, both by offering its large military umbrella and by intervening directly attacking the legitimate states of Iran, Syria and Iraq.
Therefore, the US imperialists and the genocidal Zionist aggression on the Palestinian people are the cause of the extension of the war throughout the region, making this region one of the main global hotbeds which -beside the war in Ukraine and what occurs in the Pacific about the Taiwan issue- can lead to a world war.
In this sense, to support the Palestinian people, to support the solidarity action carried out by the Houthi people is part of the struggle for peace in the world, to stop the warmongering march, led by US imperialism and supported by all Western imperialist governments, including the Italian government.
The struggle in solidarity with the Palestinian people must be united with the struggle against the imperialist war and the pro-imperialist regimes in the region, as well as in all other hot chessboards in the world, from Ukraine to Asia.
The third issue to highlight is the role of our government, since we operate in Italy.
Italian Meloni's government, currently formed by a reactionary and fascist, Northern League, racist, imperialist coalition, in addition of being complicit in the genocide against the Palestinian people and loyal ally of the Nazi-type Zionist state of Israel, is making a further commitment of intervening militarily in the region.
Together with other European governments, a military operation under Italian command is being launched from 19 February which will have as result the direct military intervention of Italian imperialism in the region, in faithful alliance with those who wage the main attack, US and Great Britain, at the aim to support their attacks and contribute to restore the so-called "freedom of navigation" in the region, which means freedom for imperialist economic traffic at expenses of the people and at the same time to allow the Palestinian genocide and that the oppression of all the poor, exploited and oppressed masses of the entire region continue.
We are strongly against this mission, we are against the deploying of Italian troops, against the engagement rules which makes it an offensive and certainly not a defensive force throughout the region.
We are against this mission and demand the withdrawal of all imperialist troops from the region. This whole situation deeply impacts on the international economy and the economy of our country.
The area concerned is at the center of the global dispute over sources of energy, gas, oil and the geo-strategic assets throughout the region.
This is reflected in the internal policies of imperialist governments, which aim to unload the crisis on the workers and the proletarian and people’s masses in each country, including ours. This leads to high costs of living, it means that economic crisis results in unemployment, layoffs, it means that state funds are directed towards war and not the necessary social expenses for healthcare, education, employment programs to give work to the unemployed, to increase the income for the masses and to safeguard the factories, both the jobs and the wages, the working conditions and the future.
For these reasons, to be in favor of the struggle of the Palestinian people, to be in favor of the solidarity emerged in the region, and particularly in the Red Sea, to be in favor of the re-establishment of justice, peace and freedom for the peoples in this region, means to struggle in our country so that this brings positive results also for the proletarians and the Italian people. This leads us to unite these two aspects of the social and political struggle in our country.
That is why we share the decision to call a general strike on February 23rd. This mobilization, which clearly will be an actual strike in some places, struggle initiatives in others, will help to raise awareness among the working class, the workers, the poor masses of our country, of the link between what happens in Palestine and in our country and strengthen the social and trade union demands of workers aspiring for radical change as part of the fight against capitalism, imperialism and its government in our country.
Slai Cobas for the class union joins to the call launched by Si.Cobas at the push of the Palestinian organizations for the strike for the February 23rd. And wherever we are we will commit for the success of this day of struggle as a great day of propaganda, agitation, raising awareness of workers and strengthening their stand in this context.
In the same way, we agree that a national width be given to the broad mobilization of solidarity with Palestine through a national demonstration in Milan on February 24, which correctly unites solidarity with the Palestinian people and their resistance against the plans of imperialism and the Zionist State of Israel, the strongest condemnation of the war, the wars of capital, the imperialist wars, the war on the peoples ongoing in that region and not only there.
Thus, we cal all trade union organisations, all trade union activists and bodies in the factories, workplaces and in the territories, to participate in the two days of struggle on the 23rd and 24th of February.
