Condemn Israeli attacks on Palestinian refugee camp -Communist Party of the Philippines

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and all revolutionary forces in the Philippines condemn in the strongest terms the Israeli armed assault, aerial bombardment and occupation of the Jenin refugee camp in the northern part of the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Israeli occupying forces withdrew after two days leaving homes and infrastructure extensively damaged.

At least 12 people were killed in the Israeli raid carried out on the cynical pretext of “thwarting terrorist activity.” At least 500 families were forced to evacuate as bombs and rockets rained on their homes. There are 3,000 people in the camp.

We denounce the continuing genocidal war of the Zionist Israeli government against the Palestinian people. In waging its unjust war, Israel completely disregards international humanitarian law and rules of war in aiming their rockets and bombs against heavily populated areas. The US-supported military forces of Israel use overwhelming force in its desperation to crush the Palestinian people’s struggle for self-determination.

The Party denounces the US government and other imperialist powers for turning a blind eye to Israel’s genocidal war. Western and local media organizations are complicit as well for failing to report the gross violations of international humanitarian law and the sufferings of the Palestinian people.

We extend solidarity with the Palestinian people in their continuing militant and armed resistance against Israeli occupation of their land and in their aspiration to prosper and live peacefully. We pay homage to the martyrs of the Palestinian struggle and draw inspiration from the heroic struggle to free their motherland.
