The NATO Security Conference held in Munich was not a summit as usual banal but an important event for the comrades, workers, people who are against the war, because it openly staged the current state of affairs, in particular after Trump's rise as President of the United States.
This rise is not at all a normal rotation of US presidents. Whoever says so -saying that at most the "big news" would be the presidency of the oligarchs- is a fraud even when claims to be comrade.
Of course, all US presidents represent the US multinationals and big capital.
All US presidents, from Kennedy up to today, represented of the interests of US imperialism in the world and their policy has always been one of domination, war, exploitation of the proletarians and the peoples of the world and imposition of its own primacy within the imperialist world.
All US presidents have been against USSR and China, in the past because these countries represented an alternative to the rule of imperialism on the world, later because they represented competitors capable of countering, as big power and superpower, the domination of US imperialism.
Always all US presidents within the clash against the USSR and China, today Russia and China, aimed to bind to themselves the governments, the states of the European imperialist countries and, on the Asian front, of Japan.
So, it is true that all this is in continuity with what US imperialism has always represented in the world.
Nevertheless, the Trump presidency represents on the one hand a point of arrival, on the other a breaking point for the situation, the role, the action, the policy of US imperialism. And it has an internal and an international aspect.
Internally, it aims to build a fascist-style regime suited to the features of US, based on white supremacism, economic nationalism, trying to involve large parts of the industrial world, including the working class and labour aristocracy, in a social bloc aimed to erase democratic freedoms, already very limited in the US, as well as the presence of an opposition, within the big contradiction in the belly of the beast between imperialism and oppressed classes, a large part of which is certainly not of yankee origin.
Internationally such a regime aims to take a further step towards a world imperialist war to establish the hegemonic and exclusive domination of US imperialism on the world.
Therefore, the choice is openly the war, to strike the proletarians and the peoples of the world within the imperialist countries, and, even more, the nations and peoples oppressed by imperialism. This is the crux of the matter.
In this sense, US came to the Conference in Munich with their concrete style that combines the vulgarity, arrogance, spirit of power that has always marked US imperialism towards the proletarians and oppressed peoples first and foremost, and is now openly flaunted towards the European imperialist countries. The NATO Security Conference in Munich was this.
Trump -through his vice president who is also the ideologist of the politics, the culture/ideology of Trump, exactly as Elon Musk is the representative of the financial oligarchy that fully embraces it and uses the US Presidency in the exclusive interest of the financial oligarchy ruling in the US aspiring the e world domination- said clearly: now you do what we say, American weapons have to be used to defend American imperialism and its domination, or they are accepted as such, or other countries have to make their own weapons to compete at the military level. There are no spheres of influence to share with US imperialism, there are spheres of influence to divide under the rule of US imperialism.
Whit this battle cry, US imperialism expresses the interests and nature of a dying imperialism, whose world order has been called into question in all these years, and so US rule must be re-established by turning back the wheel of history, with the aspiration to a global domination that only can be compared, in past history, to the Nazi regime at the time of the Third Reich.
The Nazi regime had a plan for global domination, it wanted to establish the German rule on Europe and the world and, based on that, a division of the world in which Germany would become the center. And we know how it ended.
What Trump says lets us fully understand how the adventure of US imperialism will end with this desire to impose a new counter-division of the world to establish the absolute, economic, political, military, cultural domination of US imperialism in Trump/Musk sauce.
The various European governments certainly did not expect to see that in such brutal and explicit ways as put at the Munich Conference. In front of that, European imperialist have shown all their weakness. Tactical weakness, because there is no European imperialism, with a set of allied governments and states, that has a common economy, a common defense, a common governance.
UE, within the framework of the current economic structures, has always been a contradictory alliance between imperialist governments and states to which have been added in the last decade other countries that have made the UE itslef a pleonastic alliance of states that do not share, in most of cases, anything. Now UE is, to say so, "attacked", by US imperialism in a condition of extreme weakness, not only tactical but also strategic. Based on this tactical and strategic weakness, US imperialism imposes its diktats. It is also clear that US imperialism, when try to impose its diktats, even claims to conform the governments of the European imperialist states to its image and likeness. Hence the open sponsorship, outside of any UN declaration, of fascist, neo-Nazi, reactionary governments, which can be vassal governments of the general plan of US imperialism.
These governments find in the Nazis far right, the reactionary, neo-populist bands, their representatives, who aspire and work to become the new “Quisling” governments of US imperialism.
In this, Italy has carried the work forward with the servant par excellence of US imperialism, Meloni, who wants to promote herself as such within the UE itself. The Meloni government, precisely because of its nature, is certainly not the “bridge” of which the “young lady” speakes on European and US TVs, but the fifth column of US imperialism, against the interests of our country both within Europe and n the world. This way our country is led to the political and military adventure of the American empire, of the rule of multinationals and oligarchs, of fascism and Nazism, of an open dictatorship of a reactionary nature, which is, one likes it or not, a modern re-edition of the plans of the Third Reich.
So the Conference in Munich has been a discussion among bandits, where the chief put the gun on the table saying everyone: either you do this way or you don't.
At the Conference in Munich, the governments of the European imperialist countries showed all their fragility and weakness, as their only response has been to adjust: if US wants it this way, we must defend our interests. But the defense of "our interests" coincides exactly with the economy, the ideology, the culture, the form of government that Trump wants to promote in the world: nationalist governments, of a fascist nature, that lock themselves up internally to achieve social peace and externally arm themselves as never before to compete in this war that is proceeding at forced pace.
In this sense, the responses of the European imperialist governments is a remedy worse of badly: the decision to increase military spending from 2% to 5%, according to the diktats of US imperialism, done in an ostentatious manner, to the detriment of social spending, and with the desire to transform into a war economy according to the American model, up to consider the American arms market the place where the conciliation of the opposing interests between American imperialism and European governments can take place.
Therefore, this path chosen by the European imperialist governments is ruinous.
It is clearly shown around the two hot spots currently in the world, Ukraine and Palestine, which are at the center of world attention as epicenters of a world fire that crosses the imperialist system and are at the root of the world imperialist war, but also of the necessary, indispensable rebellion of the proletarians and peoples of the world against the rise of the barbarity of war, fascism, misery, which, in the context of the current condirtions of the world economic system, also bring environmental and climate disasters and even the health catastoph we witnessed during the pandemic.
Proletarians, comrades, people's masses, anti-fascists, anti-imperialists, environmentalists, friends of the people's struggles of the world, imperialists discussed about that in Munich, and this should have been contested, at least in Germany, by the forces that oppose this world system. But, frankly, it has not been the case.
Of course, the electoral campaign, and cosequently the stir of the political and social forces participating, in a few days, in the forthcoming electoral contest in Germany, had an impact. But the proletarians and the people's masses, their organizations, did not choose a line of combat. This is the truth.
So in Munich they did not gather in the hundreds of thousands as on other occasions, in protesting the different aspects of the imperialist politics in general and German imperialism in particular. However, he conciliation between a radical opposition and reformist demands was not the main feature of the demonstration held in Munich.
Our comrades, having understood the importance of this occasion, are those who, with a workers' delegation, brought the only right words that needed to be said by the entire movement against the NATO Security Conference, first and foremost.
The fundamental slogan was brought to the demonstration by our comrades: "the imperialist war can be stopped only if the people's war advances".
People's war means unity of the proletarians and the popular masses within the imperialist countries, with the proletarians, peoples and nations oppressed by imperialism, in the forms appropriate to each country. Only the path of class war, revolutionary war, people's war can stop the reactionary march of imperialism, fascism, their States, their governments.
It is incompatible with the electoral way, in Germany as in all countries of the world. The absurd idea that all that can be fought through the electoral process, that the only, or the main, way to represent the alternative demands becomes the opposition electoral lists, even if not connected to those of the two main parties in government, the CDU and the Social Democrats, is an equally illusory path.
Obviously, we are for the stopping of the Nazi rise in Germany, which will also try to take advantage form the attack, perhaps provocative, that took place in Munich in those days. But this has nothing to do with conciliation, the electoral way and even less with a merely trade union line within the historical logic of social democracy, which even in the case of left-wing social democrats, as the MLPD in Germany, it is always social democracy, and social democracy is a traveling companion of the fascist reaction.
The leaflet spread by the workers comrades by our organization of communist proletarians at the demonstration in Munich, activists of our union, the trend for the class union represented by Slai Cobas, was the only clear voice that tried to make heard against the Conference in Munich, because it is time for all demonstrations to find the way to have a single line as anti-capitalist, anti-fascist and anti-imperialist front, in which the stand, the slogans, the proletarian organization have a central role. This indication was brought to the demonstration in Munich, but it is an indication that must be brought everywhere as well as within the class conflict in our country.
