Two security personnel killed in Maoist attack in Bastar
RAIPUR: Two personnel of the Chhattisgarh Special Task Force (STF) were killed on Sunday in an encounter with outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) fighters near Mirtur village of Bijapur district in tribal Bastar region of Chhattisgarh. Police said the encounter took place when the security personnel were on a search operation in the area on Sunday morning. Maoist rebels ambushed the security personnel, who retaliated and engaged the rebels in a fierce encounter which lasted for about two hours.
While police confirmed death of two security personnel, they are yet to ascertain the actual number of the injured saying that the troopers were yet to return to the base. Additional security forces have been rushed to the spot to evacuate the injured and to launch an aggressive combing operation in the area to flush out the rebels.
