It
has gathered and united the ongoing mobilizations in recent months,
both local or national-wide, from those against the racist Salvini's
measures against migrants, to the anti-fascist ones, to those against
the attack on the right of abortion and the “safety package”,
fuel for sexual violence and femicides.
The
state of “permanent unrest" declared at the national meeting
in Bologna in October has been actually implemented, giving rise to
dozens of mobilizations.
Again,
many girls, young women gathered on streets on 24th
of November, many of whom participating for the first time this year,
driven to be there by the current fascist-racist-sexist atmosphere
and the consequent ongoing reaction.
Along
the parade, slogans, placards, banners, speeches emphasized a
definite NO!, the proud challenge of women against the control over
our bodies, the atmosphere of fear, racism, male violence; rising the
anger and rebellion of women, "I decide", "fear is not
ours", etc.
Nevertheless,
fascism, which is indeed the heart of this Lega/5Stars government,
the main imprint from which racism and sexism derive, still is not
being much denounced.
In
the same way, generally, there was not a strong denunciation of the
equally fascist-populist role, of attack on the life of women, played
by 5Stars policies, by Di Maio. This has also to do with the
non-visibility within the demonstration of the expressions of the
struggles of proletarian women, of women workers, precarious workers
-except the women in struggle for the "right to housing".
But
this is a more general issue, that also has to do with the class
forces and class positions -mostly petty bourgeois- acting and
prevailing in this NUDM [not a women less] movement, in which, beyond
some words, the necessary intertwining between gender and class,
women's struggle and class struggle, is not recognized and sometimes
is even opposed. But it also concerns the representative of the
struggle of women workers, who still hesitate to play a leading role
in the entire battle for the condition of women, because, as the Mfpr
says, "all life must change".
The
MFPR acted in this demonstration as a combative "compact group"...
Our
banner: "Modern Middle Ages, Double Oppression - Women in
Struggle for Revolution", our placards with the slogan: "We
Women Irreducibly Against the Fascist Racist Sexist Government",
the posters with Salvini upside down, our slogans against the
Lega/5Stars government, against the principals behind the murdering
migrants, women and children, against the police and the rapists in
uniform, our speeches, had impact, have been noticed, appreciated;
many, especially girls, asked our placards; many women joined us
throughout the demo, others approached and gladly supported our
contingent, sharing our slogans and speeches.
This
led in some moments to unite/"contaminate" our slogans with
those of other feminist groups, with a positive interaction.
And
our logo was in fact our signature, our identity.
The
leaflet the MFPR distributed strongly made clear that “...We
all have the responsibility that the rebellion, the struggle of women
may become one of the main ‘dangers’ for this government, the
bourgeois State, the masters, the ‘men who hate women’. Let us
organize ourselves to unleash the revolutionary fury of women! ... If
it is true that violence against women is a systemic element,
it
is necessary to organize and extend the proletarian revolutionary
feminist wing of women's movement,
countering
the reformist influence of petty and middle bourgeois feminism,
rising the question of the revolutionary struggle as central... We
are the ‘extra gear’ that enriches the overall struggle, the
revolutionary battle of the proletarians and people’s masses to
overthrow this rotten capitalist system, from earth to heaven, for a
new society”.
The
short but meaningful clash with the forces of police and even army,
deployed at the metro, quasi as a "revenge" against the
great success of the demo -in which some of Mfpr comrades were among
the most determined- was in fact the natural conclusion of a
beautiful day, because in front of the stupid, useless show of force
by the police, “safety package” style, the firm opposition of
women, and male comrades, finally won! forcing, the “force
exhibitors” to open the turnstiles of the subway. A small but
significant proof that to respond "blow to blow" (as
written in our leaflet) wins, and that in this case women are once
again shown to have an ‘extra gear’!
In
the contingent of MFPR were the working women, precarious, dismissed,
unemployed, targeted by the daily violence of the capital that denies
work and rights. This every day struggle is crucial to organize and
self-organize the proletarian women.
The
number of protesters in Rome does matter, but
it does matter even more the actual number of the organized
proletarian women struggler,
especially to counter the positions that try to reduce the women's
struggle against sexual violence into a mere cultural and customs
issue -as the bourgeois and petty bourgeois feminists do- instead of
a fighting a system that produces such violence as result of the
double exploitation and double oppression on jobs and in
neighborhoods and cities. It is even more important if we really want
to give a broad mass base and make the 'global' women's strike,
announced for the next March 8, 2019, an actual strike. A road -the
women's strike- opened by the Revolutionary Proletarian Feminist
Movement when no one were speaking about.
