‘Conditions ripe for revolution’
On the eve of May Day, 28 Communist outfits, belonging to as many countries, have given a call to the “oppressed people of the world” to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the “Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution (GPCR)” in China.
The joint appeal by the Left-wing organisations, sent to The Hindu by revolutionary writer Vara Vara Rao, states that the Communists around the world should place Maoism in command as a guide for the “new great wave of world proletarian revolution and sweeping imperialism off the face of the earth”. The four-page statement points out that GCPR, led by Chairman Mao Tsetung, was the most advanced stage of the “proletarian world revolution” and for 10 years “it prevented the capitalist restoration in China”. The statement emphasised that the urgent task of Marxist-Leninist-Maoist movement was to fight the current state of dispersion in the international Communist Movement. “Pursuing this task will serve to establish… new levels of coordination between Maoist forces world-wide”.
According to the statement, imperialism today has descended into a deep crisis and “the conditions to advance the revolution are increasingly favourable”. The joint statement was made by, among others, the Left-wing outfits of India, Brazil, Germany, Afghanistan, Chile, Ecuador, Malaysia, Bolivia, US, Britain, Norway, Italy, Austria and France.
