PUDR: Statement Against Police Repression on Democratic Movements in Ladakh

People’s Union for Democratic Rights (PUDR) strongly condemns the large scale atrocities by the police on democratic movements in Ladakh. On 24 September 2025, four individuals lost their lives in a shooting incident in Ladakh, with over 50 others sustaining injuries. Additionally, more than 70 youths have reportedly been arrested.

During the crackdown, renowned environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk was arrested under the National Security Act (NSA) and sent to Jodhpur Jail. This response by the authorities has significant implications for the democratic process. The entire incident should be considered not only as a police operation aimed at upholding law and order but also within the framework of the prolonged peaceful advocacy by Ladakh residents concerning their legitimate concerns and requests over the past five years.

Sonam Wangchuk previously held two hunger strikes related to his demands, lasting 21 days in March 2024 and 16 days in October 2024. On 24 September 2024, he organized a march with 150 members from the Leh Apex Body (LAB) and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA), aiming to arrive in Delhi by 2nd October. He was not granted permission to enter Delhi and was detained at the Singhu Border.

The people of Ladakh are seeking recognition and protection of their democratic rights. Their primary demands include the attainment of full statehood and the reinstatement of the legislative assembly, which was dissolved in 2019. Given that approximately 97% of Ladakh’s population comprises tribal communities, there is also a request for the inclusion of Ladakh under the Sixth Schedule.

The absence of the Sixth Schedule has led to concerns among the residents of Ladakh regarding local governance and resource management. Various development initiatives, including hotels, cafes, and other projects, are currently operated by external companies. Although Ladakh generates surplus electricity, 80 square kilometers of land in the Pang region have been allocated for a 13-gigawatt solar project.

On 21 March 2023, it was reported in the Rajya Sabha that 250 square kilometers of land in Pang, Debing, and Kharnak would be acquired for solar, wind, and battery energy. Additionally, discussions have taken place regarding seven hydroelectric projects aimed at generating 2,070.2 megawatts of electricity, and survey work has been completed for a 490-kilometer railway line from Bilaspur (Himachal Pradesh) to Leh. Infrastructure developments such as roads (totaling 750 square kilometers), airports (including 39 helipads), 29 new bridges, and major construction projects are being promoted to support tourism.

Pays-Bas : Procès d’un militant de Communistisch Comité van Nederland - infosolidaire

En juillet 2025, la police néerlandaise a fait une descente au domicile d’un militant de l’organisation maoïste Communistisch Comité van Nederland.  Il a été arrêté dans son lit, transporté à l’autre bout du pays, à Dordrecht, et détenu pendant 18 heures. Il est accusé de sédition pour avoir dénoncé le rôle des entreprises opérant aux Pays-Bas dans le génocide en cours en Palestine. Par ailleurs, l’État néerlandais a imposé des interdictions de circulation temporaires, notamment d’entrer dans les zones entourant les entreprises Fokker GKN et Maersk. Il passera en jugement le 4 novembre 2025.

Varavara Rao turns 85 who for five decades remained undeterred in waving the banner of Liberation and Maoism amidst the gravest circumstances -

On November 3^rd, today, the legendary poet and Activist Varavara Rao celebrates his 85^th birthday. There are innumerable ways to describe Varavara Rao, reminiscent of colours of a rainbow. He has carried the mantle of a teacher, a poet, an activist, being known to many simply as VV. The Indian government perceived him as a rebel and a threat, an “anti-national.” His journey unfurled with the rural rebellions for land rights in the 1960s—and continuing through the severe repression that followed—he unwaveringly stood by disenfranchised tribal communities, going on, at the start of the millennium, to serve as an emissary in peace negotiations between the Andhra Pradesh government and the Naxalites.

His path breaking contributions to the discipline of Marxist literary criticism as a left-wing intellectual and his fearless opposition to religious orthodoxy, caste discrimination, and neoliberal development left an indelible impression on the oppressed and revolutionary masses, and, unsurprisingly, became a scourge in the eyes of landlords, bureaucrats, and police forces alike.

Appraisal of Character

Since his inception into Maoist ideology in the 1960.s Varvara Rao has unwaveringly carried the baton and flicked the torch of Maoism and liberation, withstanding the most perilous adversity undeterred. He transcended realms rarely explored in revolutionary poetic creativity and made path-breaking experimentations in fusing creative art with realism. Few poets ever better turned a pen into a political weapon. His poetry spoke the very language of the oppressed masses and manifested or epitomised Liberation and Marxist ideology weaved poetic verse to alter the fate of humanity by transforming it’s consciousness. His life was fusion of a poet and a political activist, effectively intervening in the manner of a red lantern to influence the course of events, from the 1960’s to the present day. Varavara Rao’s popular trait or forte lay in bridging the distinction between mental labour, physical labour, ideas and praxis, poetry and activism.

Combat the Neo-Revisionism of the Sonu-Satish Clique

Recently, we have all witnessed the draconian smile of the great traitor Sonu, alias Bhupati, an expelled Politburo and Central Committee member of the CPI (Maoist). He has finally laid down the arms obtained through the blood of the people. Before this, he attempted to create confusion among the masses and the revolutionary people all over the world. But after his surrender, everyone is aware of his actual agenda. This is all part of the Operation Kagar and the Sonu Gang is now acting according to the state apparatus. It is the broader part of LIC(low intensity conflict).

Our Party strongly opposes the surrenderist line of the Sonu Gang. We and the revolutionaries of Bangladesh are not confused by traitors like Sonu.

Thus, we know, whatever Sonu said to hiding his true agenda for surrendering is completely neo-revisionist. Sonu is utilizing bogus theories to justify his surrender.

Some years ago, the Prachanda-Baburam clique espoused similar nonsense, claiming that the world situation has changed. However, this revisionist, traitorous line still fails to address the imperialist warlords of America and their allies, who continue to endanger the world with the threat of a third world war. They only urge the oppressed to lay down their arms but cannot ask their newly appointed god, the state apparatus, to do the same!

Our International Department and Central Committee boldly stands with the comrades of the CPI (Maoist) Central Committee. We pay homage to Comrade Basavraj, Comrade Bikalp, Comrade Kosa and all the martyred comrades of the CPI (Maoist). We stand with those comrades who are carrying forward the line of the Protracted People's War and countering the state-sponsored neo-revisionist line within the Party.

India is an expansionist state. It not only oppresses its own people but also oppresses the people of neighboring countries. Therefore, the Indian state is a common enemy of South Asian countries and people. The CPI (Maoist) is the only true communist force fighting against the state within its country. It is also the responsibility of ours and the international proletariat to stand firmly with our comrades on the battlefield. We call upon all the revolutionary parties around the world to uphold the revolutionary line and oppose the Sonu Gang.

O que a escalada de provocações ianques contra a Venezuela significa para o Brasil?

Enquanto Lula e Trump trocam acenos públicos sobre parcerias – cujos cupidos são os magnatas do café e do boi de um lado, e o interesse ianque em nossas terras raras e “liberdade” para suas big techs, de outro –, o Agente Laranja segue suas provocações contra a Venezuela e também Colômbia. No caso da Venezuela, a imprensa noticiou a autorização presidencial para ações de terrorismo da CIA no território do país sul-americano, a que se soma a série de assassinatos perpetrados pela Marinha ianque contra pequenas embarcações na costa do país, que já vitimaram vinte e sete pessoas. Além de um gravíssimo ataque à soberania, tratam-se pura e simplesmente de execuções extrajudiciais. A gravidade do fato é tão grande que o Almirante Alvin Holsey, que liderava as tropas norte-americanas na América Latina, anunciou seu desligamento do cargo para as próximas semanas. Fontes internas dizem que isso se deve a dissensões no Pentágono sobre a abordagem da questão venezuelana e a temores de futuras responsabilizações criminais junto à Justiça dos Estados Unidos.

Em contrapartida, Maduro voltou a condenar a atitude dos Estados Unidos e a mobilizar as forças armadas e os milicianos: "Se os gringos ameaçarem, trabalharemos mais. Se os gringos atacarem, responderemos, mas nada impede o trabalho", afirmou. Após Gustavo Petro, presidente da Colômbia, condenar os recentes ataques ianques e classificar como atentados terrorista, Trump também adotou um tom de ameaça e afirmou que o governo colombiano poderia ser alvo de intervenções se continuasse ‘’comandando esquemas de narcotráfico’’.

Embora tudo indique que as ações de Trump até aqui visem muito mais a uma desestabilização do regime de Maduro e incentivo a que os altos mandos militares adiram a um projeto de oposição – o que se configuraria essencialmente como um golpe militar –, de que a pantomima do Prêmio Nobel da Paz para uma conspiradora de direita e vende-pátria como Maria Corina Machado não foi mais do que um lance, é claro que a mobilização e as ações militares já efetuadas contra alvos civis já são suficientemente graves e uma violação inédita da soberania de um país fronteiriço ao Brasil como não ocorria há décadas. Com efeito, a mobilização militar ianque no Caribe é mais extensa que durante a chamada “Crise dos Mísseis em Cuba”, em 1962 (quando os EUA e a URSS social-imperialista quase se envolveram em um conflito nuclear), e envolve diversos navios de guerra, submarinos nucleares, caças de última geração e cerca de 15 mil soldados.

Seja como for, o fato é que enquanto o “valente” neofascista Trump aventa sua imunda arrogância imperial, e promete colocar o mundo de joelhos, o que fez até aqui foi colocar a maior geringonça militar da Terra para assassinar embarcações civis de pequeno porte. Embora ridicularize em público a capacidade de resistência do povo venezuelano, o qual, ao contrário de se desagregar ou entrar em pânico, tem se unido firmemente em torno da defesa da sua soberania, certamente ele ouviu de seus conselheiros o perigo de criar na Venezuela um novo atoleiro para os ianques. A própria existência de milícias armadas, capilares, acrescenta uma capacidade de resistência muito maior à guerra de libertação nacional. Além disso, os campos de petróleo (principal ambição estadunidense na região), são muito desprotegidos e muitos deles se situam em áreas urbanas, o que facilitaria as operações de sabotagem e a interrupção da produção. Sem falar, é claro, da crise diplomática, migratória e militar que se abateria sobre o subcontinente, cujas tensões repercutiriam no Brasil.

Na verdade, qualquer manobra ianque na América do Sul considera necessariamente o Brasil, na sua disputa por hegemonia com a China, e se, frente ao nosso país, a administração Trump tem adotado uma abordagem de “morde e assopra”, o ataque aberto contra nossos vizinhos é indiretamente uma ação de cerco e pressão contra o governo brasileiro, uma advertência no caso de a diplomacia falhar. Isto é ainda mais notório no momento em que a Petrobras anuncia o anúncio das pesquisas para prospecção de petróleo na Margem Equatorial amazônica, uma riqueza avaliada em bilhões de dólares e relativamente próxima da costa venezuelana. No nosso caso, aliás, o maior agravante é que as Forças Armadas funcionam na prática como uma força de ocupação interna, completamente subjugadas técnica e ideologicamente aos ditames norte-americanos, particularmente sensíveis pois a adotar uma atitude de vassalagem e subserviência frente ao SouthCom ianque. Não por acaso, apesar das sanções tarifárias vigentes contra o Brasil e em plena escalada de agressões contra nossos vizinhos, o calendário de exercícios militares conjuntos entre forças brasileiras e ianques foi mantido, como em Roraima na região norte e no semiárido nordestino. Isto é um verdadeiro acinte e demonstração de que a soberania nacional brasileira só poderá ser garantida pela via da mobilização e luta populares.

El Frente Popular para la Liberación de Palestina responsabiliza plenamente al gobierno de ocupación sionista de los crímenes de guerra que se siguen cometiendo contra los prisioneros palestinos en las cárceles y centros de detención, especialmente contra los prisioneros de Gaza.

La tortura física y psicológica a la que se somete a los prisioneros, la deliberada negligencia médica y las operaciones de liquidación sobre el terreno que se llevan a cabo tras su detención, revelan una sistemática política de exterminio y liquidación dirigida contra los prisioneros palestinos.

La continua retención de los cuerpos de los mártires y su entierro en fosas comunes constituye un doble crimen y una flagrante violación de todos los valores humanos y de las disposiciones del derecho internacional.

Estos crímenes sionistas representan el resultado directo de una política oficial dentro del gobierno de la entidad ocupante, que busca transformar las cárceles en campos de lento exterminio, bajo la supervisión política directa de figuras fascistas situadas en la cima de la pirámide gubernamental.

Las declaraciones incendiarias del Ministro de Seguridad Nacional del gobierno de ocupación, el criminal de guerra fascista y racista Itamar Ben Gvir, contra los prisioneros son una exposición pública de lo que realmente sucede dentro de las celdas y los centros de interrogatorio, donde los prisioneros son tratados como objetivos de venganza, en flagrante violación de todas las normas internacionales que regulan el trato a los detenidos.

Hacemos un llamado a la comunidad internacional, a las Naciones Unidas y al Comité Internacional de la Cruz Roja para que asuman sus responsabilidades morales y legales y abran una investigación internacional urgente e independiente para que los responsables de estos crímenes rindan cuentas, en particular el criminal de guerra Ben Gvir, quien lidera una campaña de incitación pública al asesinato de prisioneros y se jacta de violar la dignidad humana de estos, en una práctica que supone la máxima expresión del fascismo político y el racismo oficial de esta entidad criminal.

Afirmamos que la cuestión de los presos seguirá estando en el centro de la lucha nacional palestina, y que el pueblo palestino, con todas sus facciones y fuerzas vivas, no permanecerá impasible ante estos crímenes que se siguen cometiendo.
