Maoists execute abducted cops
Our Bureau July 15: The blood-splattered bodies of four assistant constables of Chhattisgarh auxiliary police were today found on a road in Bastar’s restive Bijapur district, some 2km from the spot from where Maoists abducted them on Monday evening. Bijapur police said passers-by spotted the bodies at dawn near Gudma village, a few miles from Kutru town, on the fringes of Indravati National Park. The rebels left a hand-written pamphlet at the site, about 550km from Raipur, claiming responsibility for the killing. “The people have given the verdict to kill them since all four of them have admitted to taking part in anti-Naxalite operations, killing men and women, and burning the huts of people,” read the pamphlet signed by the National Park Area Committee.
The police said the rebels held a so-called “jan adalat” (people’s court) near Gudma late last night, where the four were reportedly killed. Two of the constables had been shot dead at point-blank range, the police said. The throat of the third was slit and the fourth brutally tortured and bludgeoned to death. The victims were identified as Jaidev Yadav, Mangal Sodhi, and Raju Tela of Kutru police station, and Rama Majji of Bedre police station. The four were first recruited as special police officers (SPOs) of the Salwa Judum, a civil militia that took on Maoists in Bastar region with the backing of the state machinery. In July 2011, after the Supreme Court termed the Salwa Judum an “extra-constitutional” force and ordered its disbanding, the four were made auxiliary constables.

Raipur: The bodies of four police officials, who were abducted on Monday by Naxals, were found on Wednesday in Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-hit Bijapur district. “Bodies of the four assistant constables have been found on a road near Gudma village under Kutru Police Station limits near the spot from where they were kidnapped by Naxals on Monday,” Bijapur Additional Superintendent of Police Indira Kalyan Elesela, told PTI. As per a senior police official, the rebels had killed all the four jawans by holding the so-called ‘Jan Adalat’ (peoples’ court), near Gudma village last night.
The personnel were identified as Jaidev Yadav, Mangal Sodhi and Raju Tela, all posted at Kutru Police Station, while Rama Majji was attached to Bedre Police Station in the region. Soon after getting information of the bodies lying abandoned on the road that passes thorough a dense forested patch, security forces were rushed to the spot.

Maoists blow up government buildings in Jharkhand
The cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) blew up three government buildings in Chainpur in Giridih District in the morning of July 10 (today), reports DNA. Further details are awaited. Meanwhile, Police arrested three Maoist cadres, identified as Umesh Yadav, a zonal ‘commander’, and his associates Srinath Singh and Ashish Singh, and recovered huge quantities of weapons and other items being smuggled for Maoist activities, from near Chipadohar area in Latehar District on July 9, reports Bihar Prabha. Huge quantities of items meant to be taken to the Maoists were seized from the arrested Maoists, Superintendent of Police (SP) Anoop Birthare said.

The recovery includes 23 new mobile phones, 18 new sim cards, 23 new batteries and explosive items such as rods, codex wires, batteries and 7.65 mm pistol. An extensive racket has been discovered through this operation. This racket, estimated to begin in the thick jungles of Jharkhand, reaches up to Jahanabad and Patna cities in Bihar, Birthare added.
