‘Comrade Jose Maria Sison, the founding Chairman of the Communist Party of the Philippines, died at 83. He passed away last Friday at 8:40 P.M. Philippine time after a two-week confinement in a hospital in Utrecht, Netherlands.
Comrade Sison, who had been leading the new democratic revolution in the Philippines since the party was founded in 1968, has made a significant contribution to the development of the world communist movement and the anti-imperialist movement as well. With his death, not only the communist movement of the Philippines but also the world communist movement lost a revolutionary communist leader. It is an immense loss for the world communist movement. Our party expresses strong solidarity with the Communist Party of the Philippines, the proletariat and the oppressed Philippine people in their struggle to confront this loss.
At this time of grief, our party pays heartfelt homage to Comrade Sison and expresses deep condolence to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Philippines, the proletariat, the warriors of the New People’s Army, the oppressed Filipino people, his family and relatives.’
