Indian Army Chief calls on PM Bhattarai, Defence Minister
Visiting Indian army chief General Vijay Kumar Singh met with Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai at the latter's office in Singha Durbar on Thursday morning.The meeting is learnt to have dwelt on Nepal's peace process and security related issues of Nepal and India.
PM Bhattarai hailed the Indian Army's democratic tradition of giving importance to the civilian leadership during the meeting with the Indian Army chief, said a press note issued by PM Bhattarai's personal aide Bishwadeep Pandey.
PM Bhattarai also stated the Nepal Army has been playing a constructive role in the integration of Maoist combatants. The PM also expressed his confidence that the integration process would conclude successfully. Similarly, Indian Army chief Singh expressed commitment that Indian Army's support to Nepal would continue in the days to come.
Later in the afternoon, he met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar, at the latter’s office at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Singha Durbar on Thursday.
During the meeting, Minister Gachhadar, who also holds the Defence Ministry portfolio, and the Indian Army chief discussed matters related to bilateral relations and military cooperation.
Emerging from the meeting, General Singh said that his visit was focused on consolidating the friendly relations between Nepal and India. nepalnews.com
US under secy calls on PM Bhattarai

In the meeting, the two discussed Nepal's ongoing peace process and possible extension of the US support to Nepal.
PM Bhattarai urged the US State Under-Secretary to increase the US investment in Nepal, RSS quoted PM's press advisor Ram Rijhan Yadav as saying.
On the occasion, the PM apprised her that peace and statute drafting processes was in final stage.
Emerging from the meeting, Sherman commented that her meeting with PM was positive. She also expressed hope that peace and constitution writing process will conclude on time. nepalnews.com
