Stop the extradition of Idris Kaplan! - infosolidarity

unofficial translation of the report published by Avrupa Haber on the extradition of a ATIGF comrade.

Wörgl – Idris Kaplan, who came to Austria three years ago and applied for political asylum, was detained pending extradition to Turkey after his application was rejected.

In order to prevent the arrest and extradition attempt of Idris Kaplan, a member and activist of the Wörgl association affiliated with ATİGF, and to protest the unlawfulness, the ATİGF Board of Directors took immediate action and carried out initiatives aiming to create public awareness.

Idris Kaplan, who was arrested in Wörgl and taken first to Innsbruck and then to Vienna, resisted the extradition attempt and continued his resistance on the plane, so he was brought back down and put in solitary confinement.

To protest this lawlessness and the Austrian State’s complicity in the Turkish State’s oppression and arrest policies, our comrade Idris Kaplan went on a HUNGER STRIKE.

ATİGF called on all public opinion and democratic organizations to show sensitivity and solidarity against the extradition attempt of Idris Kaplan, who also has health problems.

ATİGF announced that, in addition to the legal initiatives it has taken after the arrest, it will continue to raise awareness among the democratic people and act jointly with Austrian organizations to ensure the immediate release of Idris Kaplan and the acceptance of his application for political asylum.

The actions and protests received wide coverage from the Austrian public.

A rally was held in front of the Aliens Office in Innsbruck today as part of the campaign carried out by the ATİGF.

After a rally in Vienna, the Austrian newspaper Der Standard published an interview with the ATİGF executive on the subject. Protest activities continue alongside the signature campaign.
