Documentary ‘Operation Kagar-The Final warning’ is an illustrative documentary on genocide of Operation Kagar and testament to it triggering proto-fascism all over the nation

On June 21st, paying homage to all the martyr revolutionaries of Operation Kagar including Comrade Basavraj and to propel the combat waged for protecting water-forest-land-minimal-resources and to quell the barbaric state genocide on indigenous people in Central India, a memorial meeting was organized at Ripon Street Lokayat of Kolkata . Revolutionary Student Front's cultural branch made a red lantern presentation flashing memory to all revolutionary martyrs including Comrade Basabraj in the commemoration of the sacrifice of the martyrs at the Operation Kagar. Around 35 people attended. The documentary “Operation Kagar-The Final Warning’ was screened.

The documentary "Operation Kagar - The Final Warning" produced in Central India is based on the mass genocide Operation Kagar, summarising its roots and shape was also shown in the memorial meeting. One of the most enriching documentaries exploring or navigating proto-fascism in Chattisgarh and link of socio-economic oppression with Hindutva fascism. From the very grassroots, incorporating people from varying walks of life, be it human rights activists, Maoist sympathisers or opposition party members. A most commendable achievement of student’s activists of Revolutionary Students Front, reflecting high diligence and sense of inquiry. A testament that it is war not only waged on the borders but in the very heart of the nation and not only conducted by guns and bullets but laws, bulldozers and surveillance.

It reverberated the message, taking one along a journey, navigating how in the name of supressing Maoists, a silent war is being waged in the heart of India to launch a mortal blow to Adivasis, dissent, and democracy itself.

It unravelled staged encounters to aerial bombings, from mining clearances to silenced protests. It showcased how Operation Kagar was the breeding ground or nurtured state violence, corporate greed, and Hindutva ideology, all fused together in the forests of Chhattisgarh.

Based on ground reports, interviews and voices rarely heard; this film explores who is the real enemy, who are the beneficiaries from this war and why it concerns each and every person.

Narrated the cold blood murder executed of Maoist leaders and members defacing any constitutional ethics. It also touched upon crushing of dissent and branding of ‘urban naxals.’ on UAPA charges.

One of the most enriching documentaries exploring or navigating proto-fascism in Chattisgarh and link of socio-economic oppression with Hindutva fascism. From the very grassroots, incorporating people from varying walks of life, be it human rights activists, Maoist sympathisers or opposition party members.

It projects how Operation Kagar escalated repression to new plane. Conveyed how it is not only a war conducted by guns but by infiltrating diverse spheres to induct Hindutva ideology.

It most clinically and illustratively links the gross socio-economic inequality or injustice with the mass political resistance of Adivasis, portraying how semi-slavery still prevailed.

Vividly, it describes the neo-fascist militarisation of the state, forging the link between Operation Kgar and the construction of a Hindutva corporate state.

Highlighted the Protest at the Silgur camp mobilising 50000 Adivasis., which shook the ruling classes in their very den. It also spoke about protests in 2020 in Akahanjur where 50 elected Sarpanches resigned and in 2019 in Potilli in Dantewada.

Bela Bhatia relates the grave human rights situation and how the fabric of the Constitution has been dismantled, while Ravi Narla recounts how in effect nothing has radically changed in the lives of Adivasis after 1947, being still subjugated to clutches of tyranny. Sonu Sori describes how vestiges of colonial days still exist. The film manifests how an attack on the Maoists is a very attack on the people and how the Maoists play an integral role in genuine democracy.

The documentary describes the merciless combing operations, the undemocratic and unconstitutional manner activists are branded or framed as Maoists, forcing confessions, and no rehabilitation of those falsely convicted. It also asserted how repression doubled with the BJP capturing power and effect of BJP-RSS combine orientation towards patronising corporate loot. Gives credibility to Maoists demanding cease fire and dialogue and is critical of state treating it as a law-and-Order Situation.

Many were forced to surrender out of sheer threat of arrest and custodial killings were routine Banners are planting celebrating surrender of Maoists by state. Several who surrendered were not actually Maoists. Police are even given monetary reward to kill. Pande Kwasi committee suicide as a surrendered Maoists. Only 3 % of surrendered activists qualified for rehabilitation. Surge in Killings is a policy monetised. Describes how the state holds unchecked powers which is escalating day by day. Revealed how now there are many more encounters than arrests with police awarded a moral incentive.

State manufactures public concept, creating illusions about creating a liberal democracy. Projects how it is war waged for corporate profit. Ilustrative dichtonomy between the pro-corporate model in contrast to a genuinely progressive one.

Documentary explores and dissects how Operation Kagar is a breeding ground for ascendancy and penetration of neo-fascism as whole. Navigates the link between Hindutva fascism or corporate Hindu Rashtra and militarisation of state.
