- Canada is a capitalist, imperialist, and settler-colonial country. This means that it is built on the genocide of First Nations, Metis and Inuit people, and is maintained by the exploitation of workers here and around the world. Canada is a major polluter that offloads its envirnomental destruction onto Indigenous people at home and poor people abroad. It uses the cover of "humanitarianism" to overthrow elected governments, prop up murderous dictatorships, and stifle the will of people for genuine self-determination.
The Government of Canada spending a half a billion dollars to celebrate the country's 150th anniversary, hoping to create such a spectacle that people will look past all this and swell with national pride. We won't be so easily fooled.
Fuck the 150th is a cross-Canada campaign to expose the real nature of Canada on the occaision of its 150th anniversary. Join us on July 1st at 4:00 at the North-West entrance of Gage Park (near the parking lot) for a rally and march through the park to expose and denounce this hypocritical holiday and to hear from the people who are fighting to put Canada into the dustbin of history!
