Algunos apuntes sobre la guerra en el este de Congo - info for debate

El lunes 27 de enero, el grupo “Movimiento M23”, o “Movimiento del 23 de Marzo” afirmó haber capturado Goma, la ciudad más grande del este de la República Democrática del Congo (RDC). El M23 ya tomó el poder en Goma “sin apenas resistencia” en 2012. Actualmente hay una gran constelación de más de 100 grupos armados en la región, siendo el M23 el más activo y predominante. En 2022 el grupo hizo conquistas territoriales significativas contra las fuerzas de la RDC y las “fuerzas de paz” de las Naciones Unidas (ONU). Entre otros territorios, el M23 controla Rubaya, un pueblo minero del coltán.

Más de 100.000 personas huyeron de la zona del norte de Kivu en sólo una semana y ya hay 1 millón de desplazados en Goma. Las llamadas “fuerzas de paz” de las Naciones Unidas han chocado con las tropas del M23, pero han sido derrotadas y han sufrido bajas, siendo al menos 13 de ellos eliminados durante la semana pasada. En medio de alegaciones de apoyo por parte de Ruanda al Movimiento M23, la RDC ha cortado relaciones con este país. Supuestamente hay miles de soldados ruandeses sobre el terreno, así como un continuo equipamiento y apoyo de muchos tipos al M23 por parte de Ruanda. De acuerdo con las Naciones Unidas, 773 personas murieron y 2.880 fueron heridas en Goma durante esta semana de combate.

La riqueza de Congo no conlleva ningún tipo de bienestar para su pueblo, sino lo contrario: guerra, opresión y subyugación imperialista ya que los imperialistas se benefician de estos recursos. La historia de la región está marcada por la subyugación colonial e imperialista y la explotación de los recursos. Desde el siglo XIX, el Congo fue saqueado debido a su caucho y marfil, y se enfrentó a un brutal genocidio, cometido por el colonialismo belga. Después la explotación continuó, y tras la independencia formal del Congo en junio de 1960, se convirtió en un campo de batalla y una zona de saqueo. Los imperialistas orquestaron golpes de estado, usaron mercenarios y apoyaron movimientos separatistas para asegurar el saqueo de la riqueza congoleña. Hemos informado sobre el último intento de esta política de desestabilización, que ocurrió el año pasado cuando lo que claramente era un lacayo del imperialismo yanqui, Christian Malanga, intentó llevar a cabo un golpe, pero claramente falló. Desde los años 90 han estallado varias guerras en Congo, siendo una de las masivas y mortal en el continente. El número de fallecidos desde las dos guerras del Congo es de alrededor de 6 millones de personas. Estas guerras y la inestabilidad en la región están estrechamente conectadas con el genocidio sobre los tutsis en Ruanda en 1994, el cuál no sólo causó cientos de miles de asesinatos sino también un éxodo masivo al este del Congo y poco después, dos guerras estallaron, de 1996 a 2003.

India Democratic Front Condemns extra-judicial killings camouflaged as encounters by Police-

After the killing of 31 Maoists in an encounter at Indravati National Park in Bijapur district on Sunday took the total number of them killed in Chhattisgarh escalated to 81 already this year, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated his promise of extinguishing ‘ Left-wing extremism’ in the country by March 2026.. This was the second-largest Maoist casualty count in a single security strike, after 38 guerrillas were gunned down in Narayanpur's Thulthuli on October 3 last year.

The leaders of the anti-Operation Green Hunt Democratic Front, Dr. Parminder, Prof. Ak. Maleri and Buta Singh Mehmoodpur in no uncertain terms condemned the brutal killing of 31 Naxals, including 10 women, in the façade of an ‘encounter' in the National Park area of Chhattisgarh.

They summed up that the armed conflict with the Indian state in the form of Maoist and other armed insurgencies is the direct result of social upheaval stemming out of the anti-people policies and practices of the present political system based on grave injustice and chronic inequality.

The attack was crippling blow to the very foundation of the people’s lives and democratic resistance in Bastar, and not only on the Maoist forces. It epitomised the creation of a pro-corporate state governed by Hindutva neo-fascism.

Instead of treating the issue as a political problem, the Indian rulers have been adopting the policy of executing merciless killings of their own people by making the forest-mountain areas a vast hunting ground or base of security forces and security camps for decades. In a span of one year since January 2024, more than 350 extrajudicial killings in the name of 'encounters' have been executed by security forces in the Bastar region alone under ‘Operation Kagaar'. It is even more disturbing that tribal and other working-class youth are being drawn into the ranks of the state-run legal and illegal forces and used as pawns in the false pretext of ‘restoring law and order ‘to submerge the just struggles of the oppressed in cold blood.

The BJP's policy of ‘extinguishing Nasalism by March 2026’is a neo- fascist policy of paving the path for corporate projects to sprout in the name of so-called development. This policy jeopardises the interests of the country and hinders progress of the people. In fact, it is an anti-people conspiracy to install corporate projects by robbing the forest and hilly areas rich of natural resources, by supressing the democratic resistance for the protection of the natural right of the adivasi people over the water-forest-land, which cannot be accepted under any pretext. They appealed to all democratic and justice loving forces to raise their voice against such organised genocide.

The Indian rulers have turned the forest belt of central India into a slaughterhouse for Naxalite/Maoist revolutionaries and tribals. Bastar is particularly heavily militarized because it is considered a stronghold of the Maoist movement. Hundreds of security camps have been set up and the entire area is tightly cordoned off. In most parts of Bastar, a security camp has been set up every four to five kilometers.

Illegal arrests, detentions, looting, sexual terrorism, kidnapping and killings in encounters are a routine occurrence.

A narrative has been manufactured that the tribal areas are not being ‘developed’ due to Naxal violence because the Naxals preventing roads and bridges to be built; it is also propagated that the Naxals are not even allowing schools to be built because they do not want the tribals to be educated. The truth is that schools have never been constructed in most areas, with the institutions that were built, been paralysed due to government terrorism. To mask the real motive of laying a trap for paramilitary forces, this false propaganda is being spread that they are being built to sponsor and protect ‘development’ projects. The truth is that the sole objective of ‘modernisation’ of the police forces is to crush tribal resistance.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been repeatedly declaring that Maoism will be eradicated by March 31, 2026. It is clear from the repeated incidents of a few dozen Naxalite being rounded up and killed by thousands of security forces/special forces that the prime objective of the Indian rulers is to physically extinguish the Naxalite revolutionaries and they do not want to find a political solution to the issue at all. The government and the fake media are camouflaging the root cause of the issue through the trumpeting of vulgar celebrations of the success of the 'anti-Naxalite campaign' and through false government narratives. The so-called 'mainstream' of Indian politics justifies these extrajudicial killings claiming that Naxalite 'violence' endangers the rule of law and that since Naxalite violate the Constitution, it is justified to even break their own laws to wipe them out.

All democrats must demand termination to fake encounters, drone attacks and other forms of killings in tribal areas, the removal of security camps and the immediate withdrawal of special security forces from tribal areas; the eradication of the pro-corporate economic model, which is a an instrument of displacement and corporate control; the recognition of the natural right of tribal people to water, forest and land; stopping the suppression of mass movements and their fabrication,; and an end to the policy of crushing dissent rights activists by implicating them in false cases for questioning the anti-people policies of the ruling class.

Organised democratic protests involving all strata of society, are imperative and the very need of the hour, all over the nation, to expose the link of such massacre with corporate loot and Hindutva neo-fascism as a whole.

India - CASR STRONGLY CONDEMNS THE ACTION OF DELHI POLICE

 BRUTALLY BEATEN, UNLAWFUL DETENTION AND INTERROGATION OF STUDENT ACTIVIST BY NIA

In the early hours of February 4th, 2025 at around 3 AM, Four students activist—Gaurav, Gauraang, Rahul, and Kiran— associated with the Bhagat Singh Chhatra Ekta Manch (BSCEM) were detained by JNU gaurds in the JNU CAMPUS for peacefully raising concerns via doing wall Writings regarding the ongoing military operations in Bastar, False encounters and the plunder of the country’s resources by big corporate. The student were then handed over to Vasant Kunj, who arrived with a cavalcade of 6-7 vehicles to take them into interrogative custody.

The students were brutally beaten in interrogation by the Vasant Kunj Police. Gauraang was beaten for more than 30 minutes leading to bleeding in his ears. Similar treatment was accorded to Gaurav. They were all beaten up in the morning before being sent to investigation. One of the officers who were beating was sub inspector Vinay Bhardwaj from Vasant Kunj South police station. Not only this, the students were handed over to intelligence agencies like the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Intelligence Bureau (IB), who visited the Vasant Kunj Police station and illegally interrogated the students by using the investigative detention in a frivolous case pertaining to defacement of public property and trespassing. The intervention of such intelligence agencies in a case pertaining to basic expression of political views is a concerning trend and should be countered to protect democratic spaces within the university. The state’s heavy-handed response to their act of protest is a clear violation of constitutional rights and serves as a stark reminder of the increasing repression against political dissent.

In places like Bastar, the state is operating with unchecked impunity, with it having unleashed an undeclared war on the people under the guise of eliminating the Maoists through Operation Kagaar. In resource-rich Bastar, foreign corporations are invited by the Indian bureaucracy and protected by the police and military so that foreign corporations and domestic big corporates can plunder our people’s resources. In the name of development, what we see in Bastar is increasing militarisation, displacement and state repression. The Indian state doesn’t want the people of Bastar to be heard in order to keep its excesses hidden. That is why they work in a completely illegal manner in order to suppress all dissent and all questions about the exploitation and oppression of the people in Bastar, of the Adivasis and their struggle. In Bastar, we saw this in the way in which Moolwasi Bachao Manch was banned for being “anti development” and “anti national”.

Monitoras del comedor escolar exigen sus salarios atrasados

Las monitoras del comedor escolar de las escuelas estatales de Passo Fundo protestaron el pasado jueves 29 de enero frente a la 7ª Coordinadora Regional de Educación para exigir los pagos de sus salarios atrasados y bonus que les pertocan.

Por el momento, la empresa que externaliza los servicios y el Estado de Rio Grande do Sul están enzarzados en un proceso burocrático mientras las trabajadoras han llegado al límite de no poder comprar comida o pagar las facturas.

Más de cinco mil trabajadores corren el riesgo de ser despedidos

Desde el 1 de enero de este año, el gobierno federal suspendió el contrato con una empresa que administra la planta termoeléctrica Candiota 3. Esto puede significar la pérdida del empleo para más de cinco mil personas, entre obreros de la propia fábrica y comerciantes que trabajan alrededor de la fábrica. Esto supone casi la mitad de la población del pueblo de Candiota, que cuenta con once mil habitantes, lo que hace temer la ruina del pueblo entero.

El día 15 de enero, más de 500 obreros realizaron una manifestación en frente a la fábrica exigiendo la reapertura de la misma. El motivo del cierre es debido a la “transición sostenible” del gobierno federal, que vetó la asignación de un nuevo contrato a la empresa que administra la planta por la reducción de las emisiones de CO2 según los acuerdos internacionales de París. Sin embargo, las plantas termoelécticas son responsables de apenas el 0,3% de las emisiones de CO2 en Brasil. Sin embargo, la minería, que significa el 5% de las emisiones de Brasil no ha sido afectada, principalmente porque la minería de Candiota, que tiene 12 mil millones de toneladas de carbón en el subsuelo, va destinada a abastecer a las empresas imperialistas.

Call for the Munich March Against the NATO Security Conference!

The 61st NATO Security Conference, to be held in Munich, Germany, from February 14 to 16, coincides with a period in which the echoes of a new imperialist war of division are growing louder.

Imperialist aggression, led by the US and the UK, has been attempting to recover its weakening power by creating regional wars in Palestine, Ukraine, Lebanon, Sudan, Syria, Yemen, and Congo, while also trying to seize market dominance from countries like Russia, Iran, and especially China. Similarly, by supporting Israeli Zionism, it has achieved some degree of success in the genocide committed against the Palestinian people and in undermining Hezbollah’s dominance in Lebanon. Furthermore, for years, they have used HTS (Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham) and SMO (Syrian National Army) militias, trained via the fascist Turkish state, to overthrow the Assad dictatorship and seize power.

The preparations for war make it increasingly clear that imperialist aggression is set to escalate further in the coming period. The signs of preparations for a new imperialist division war are becoming more visible and palpable every day.

There are also several new developments in Europe. The EU imperialist powers, seeking their share of the deepening market war, are not standing idly by. EU member states, striving to act in unison with the US, have taken steps to strengthen NATO and increase their influence within it. Within the framework of the growing war-mongering policies, fascist and racist parties have garnered significant votes in recent elections in many European countries, forming governments in some of them. This indicates the establishment of war governments in Europe.

Tens of thousands of civilians continue to be slaughtered in the regional wars created by imperialist powers. Russian imperialism has killed thousands of civilians in its invasion of Ukraine. In Palestine, tens of thousands of women and children have lost their lives. The massacres of Israeli Zionism have not been confined to Palestine, leading to the deaths of thousands of civilians in Lebanon and Yemen. Today, in Rojava, the fascist Turkish state, acting as a puppet of imperialism, continues to massacre minorities, particularly the Kurdish people.

In response to the massacres carried out by NATO, the US, the UK, and Israel, oppressed peoples worldwide are organizing protest demonstrations against this imperialist aggression, voicing their reactions.

STAND UP AGAINST IMPERIALISM AND FASCISM, CLAIM YOUR FUTURE!

In this period, where economic conditions worsen daily due to the imperialist market wars, unemployment rises, and fascism and racism gain momentum, we must wage a stronger and more organized united struggle against imperialist aggression. We must loudly and clearly say “No to Imperialist Wars” to mobilize the people. The campaign “Stand Up Against Imperialism and Fascism, Claim Your Future,” launched by ATIK in September 2024 and concluding with the February 15 march, has gained even greater significance in light of these developments.

Therefore, we call on anti-imperialist, anti-capitalist, and anti-fascist forces to join the demonstration in Munich on February 15 to protest the NATO Security Conference and say NO to imperialist wars!

Announcement on the Successful Completion of Party’s 5th National Congress - (PBSP/Bangladesh)

(Second Week of December, 2024)
With immense joy, we inform all members, activists, sympathizers, and leaders of all levels of our
Party, as well as all fraternal parties and well-wishers at home and abroad, that the 5th National
Congress of our beloved Proletarian Party of East Bengal (PBSP/Bangladesh) has been successfully
completed.
After the 4th National Congress of our Party held in 2017, we faced immense challenges for nearly
two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which created significant obstacles to all kinds of
activities. Moreover, in light of the recent popular uprising leading to the fall of the fascist Hasina
regime and the formation of a new "interim" government, our Party had to remain particularly
active. These circumstances caused some delays in organizing the Congress.
Through the sincere efforts of Party activists and sympathizers at all levels, the Congress was
conducted with vibrant discussions, debates, and strong unity. During this Congress, several vital
fundamental documents were approved, which had already been circulated Party-wide by the 4th
Central Committee (CC). This Congress also made several fundamental decisions those have
elevated Party’s line-base to a higher level and brought a new dimension to Party's unity.
Through the hard work of responsible comrades, special financial contributions from many
comrades, and the responsible roles and efforts of activists, supporters, and people in managing
shelters, the Congress was conducted safely and smoothly in a joyful environment. In the closing
speech, on behalf of the Presidium, the responsible comrade expressed gratitude to all comrades
and the people for their sincere and revolutionary roles and contributions in making the Congress a
success.

Preparations for the Congress began early in the year by the 4th Central Committee of the Party.

Un militant antifasciste lyonnais a été condamné mi- janvier pour outrage à quatre mois de prison avec sursis probatoire, 105 heures de travaux d’intérêt général, un stage de citoyenneté à ses frais et Il doit verser 250 euros à chacun des quatre policiers parties civiles pour préjudice moral. L’objet du délit:  Un T-shirt avec le logo Nike assorti de « la police ». L’affaire remonte au 4 juillet 2023, une vingtaine de prévenus sont jugés en comparution immédiate à Lyon pour leur participation présumée aux émeutes qui ont suivi la mort de Nahel  Le militant antifasciste lyonnais était venu assister aux audiences, sur son T-Shirt, un message: « Nike la police ». Jugé en novembre 2024 pour outrage et rébellion, il a finalement été condamné uniquement pour les faits d’outrage.
