CoBRA jawan injured in Jharkhand Maoist encounter
RANCHI: A CoBRA jawan AK Tripathi, 35, was injured in a fierce
encounter between security forces and Maoists in Kuchai forest on the
border of Saraikela-Kharsawa and Khunti districts on Wednesday evening.
CRPF IG Jharkhand Rakesh Mishra said the injured jawan is being brought
to Ranchi for treatment. A search operation was launched in Maoist
dominated Kuchai forest when police got intelligence inputs about
Maoists holding a meeting in the area. “The extremists opened fire on
security forces moving into the forest where Maoists were holding a
meeting. Security forces have strongly retaliated, and the encounter is
still going on,” a CRPF official said. No damage to Maoists has been
reported so far.
