Speech of International Committee in Support of the People's War in India – Italy
The International Committee in Support of the People's War in India - Italian section - expresses its revolutionary, democratic, anti-imperialist and communist greetings to Professor Saibaba.
First of all, it states that Professor Saibaba was murdered. His death is not due, if not technically, to the evolution of the disease and its last events that then caused his death. His death is due to his imprisonment, persecution in all the forms that the Hindu fascist regime has done against him. Modi's regime and his government have gone to great lengths to silence his voice and commitment.
His commitment carried out in universities and among the popular masses has garnered the adhesion, the mobilization not only of the intellectual, democratic world in India, but of large sections of the popular masses.
For this reason, Professor Saibaba has become a symbol of the great battle that has been fought in India and is being fought against the fascist Hindutva regime, against the repression, persecution, massacres that this regime, on behalf of and as part of imperialism, develops against its people. On the one hand, therefore, Saibaba was the victim of a war, on the other hand he was part of the war that the popular masses in all forms have waged and continue to wage against the regime and imperialism. India, which the imperialists like to call "the largest democracy in the world", is in reality a gigantic prison of the peoples. US imperialism and other imperialist countries consider it a reserve of raw materials, labor, cheap land and a large international market of multinationals.
India is the country of great oppression and exploitation at incalculable levels. 77% of the population lives on half a dollar a day, a large part of the population does not have access to knowledge. With each new spiral of the economic crisis, the Indian government and its regime continue to hit farmers, workers and populations.
The masses reacted to this oppression with great mass struggles, resistance and the development of the people's war led by the Communist Party of India (Maoist).
It is this protracted people's war going on in India that is the habitat of Professor Saibaba's life and work.
Today all his supporters, but also part of his direct or masked enemies, have honored Saibaba in different forms, valorising his nature as a consistent democratic and irreducible persecuted intellectual.
The fact that Saibaba was suffering from polio-induced paralysis made the persecution he endured in prisons and courts even more inhumane.
Saibaba was arrested, convicted and imprisoned primarily because he was the General Secretary of the Revolutionary Democratic Front of India. The Front gathered large forces that supported the struggle of the Indian people of which an important part is the people's war led by the CPI (Maoist).
Modi's regime has struck by accusing him of being linked to the Maoists
Professor Saibaba had no need to defend himself against this "accusation" because throughout his life he has relentlessly fought on the side of the oppressed and exploited of India and the forces that organize and lead this struggle.
Penalized in a wheelchair with a disability of more than 90%, but with a brain that worked very well. It is the erasure of that brain that is the declared goal of all his persecution. In this, in a right sense, someone has compared his persecution to that of Italian fascism against the communist leader Antonio Gramsci.
Professor Saibaba has become not only a symbol of resistance to the Modi regime but also of support for the forces of revolution in India, for the great and just struggles of the peasants. Saibaba was also an analyst of workers' struggles against the anti-worker policies of the bosses and Indian and foreign multinationals.
Saibaba has become a symbol of the revolutionary, democratic, anti-imperialist, Marxist-Leninist-Maoist political prisoners who have filled Indian prisons, suffering the infamous conditions of detention, torture and murder.
Many voices have been raised in the intellectual world, in India and abroad, in defense of Saibaba, and a powerful mass movement has developed in defense of the rights of political prisoners.
Honour and glory to Professor Saibaba, who has won his place in the history of the Indian masses, the proletariat and the international communist movement, with his commitment that led him to give his life for the liberation of the Indian people and for an alternative to the Hindu fascist regime, an expression of the capitalist bourgeoisie and its feudal components at the service of and united with world imperialism.
The CPI (Maoist) called on all communist organizations and progressives, democrats and revolutionaries in the world to defend Saibaba as part of the defense of political prisoners and their immediate release.
The Communist Party of India, in this important international battle, has been able to count on the International Committee in Support of the People's War in India, which has been the promoter and animator in some countries of the world of the campaigns for the release of Professor Saibaba and all political prisoners.
The International Committee to Support the People's War in India met, in one of the brief moments in which he was free, Professor Saibaba and shared with him the analysis of the situation in India in the phase of the struggle against Operation Green Hunt and discussed the role of the international campaign for his release and the forms it could take.
The Committee developed initiatives of all kinds to contribute to the release of Professor Saibaba, in a framework that called for the release of all democratic intellectuals, writers, artists, lawyers, jurists in India who fight this battle and are persecuted because they defend the rights of the people, the right to resistance, the right to develop a people's war of liberation.
Through various repressive operations, Modi's fascist Hindutva regime, supported by imperialism, did everything to erase the people's war and to repress to the death all those who supported it. For this reason, a large number of militants and fighters of the people's war have paid with their lives but also intellectuals, democrats, young students, representatives of national minorities and adivasis, hit with massacres, prisons and torture.
We salute and support the broad sections of the masses in India who paid tribute to him both by militant participation in his funeral and by their willingness to continue the struggle in India to liberate the country from the regime of monsters.
The International Committee in Support of the People's War in India is committed to strengthening in the name of Saibaba the work to unite everything that can be united for a prolonged campaign, made up of militant and mass actions that can contribute to advancing this battle internationally.
In particular, the release of all political prisoners in India must be demanded today, as well as a stop to repressive operations, today the Operation Kagaar.
Professor Saibaba was the first to know very well that the democratic campaigns and the struggle for democracy in India had no future without an advancement of the liberation struggle of the proletariat and the popular masses.
The people's war in India led by the CPI (Maoist) is the real hope of the Indian people and all democrats, anti-imperialists in India for the liberation of the people, to put an end to hindutva fascism and the ruling class and to put an end to imperialist rule over India.
For this reason, the International Committee in Support of the People's War in India has always combined the struggle for the release of Saibaba, the struggle for the release of political prisoners with the support of the people's war, led by the Communist Party of India (Maoist).
For this reason, the greeting and honour to Comrade Saibaba is joined to the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the CPI (Maoist).
The Committee is currently publishing the Document of the CPI (Maoist) celebrating its twentieth anniversary all over the world and by all means.
It is an extremely important document in which the Party analyzes the actual state of the people's war in India, and analyzes it with a Marxist-Leninist-Maoist scientific method, free from any self-celebration and any rhetoric. The Party is advancing in its construction in the fire of the people's war. This struggle includes a struggle within itself, against all surrender and abandonment, a struggle for Bolshevization, because it is the key to advancing in the people's war.
The Communist Party of India (Maoist) in this document analyzes difficulties, limitations and errors. This has nothing to do with the 'celebrators of people's wars that are always and anyway advancing', who do not analyse advances and retreats and compromise the future of the revolution in their countries.
How much hypocrisy there is in those who celebrate the Communist Party of India (Maoist) and at the same time attack it in their meetings! The CPI (Maoist) of India is the most important flag and reference of the people's war in the world.
We must relaunch as International Committee in support of the people's war in India the prolonged campaign against the repressive genocidal operations of the Modi regime.
The people's war and the CPI (Maoist) have resisted and rendered useless Operation Green Hunt, Operation Samadhan and today fights and resists Operation Kagaar, which have the aim of erasing and destroying the people's war.
That is why today the struggle against the fascist regime and its operations, the defense of political prisoners in India are linked to the support for the people's war. For this task we appeal to communist parties and organizations in the world as well as to all genuinely anti-imperialist forces.
The International Committee in Support of the People's War in India chose, where it could, to salute Saibaba where the struggle of the working class is being fought. It brought it in Italy among the labourers, the workers, the Indian workers. An important page was written in Bergamo where the Indian workers in struggle honored Saibaba and remembered him in the fire of their struggle.
At the same time, we are bringing support for the people's war in India within the gigantic movement that is developing in solidarity with Palestine. So that in this movement not only the support of the peoples in struggle may be affirmed, but also the necessity of the people's war as the only way to liberate the oppressed masses in the world, in India as in Palestine.
As well as within the movements of struggle against the imperialist war, activated and developed in accelerated forms after the invasion of Russian imperialism of Ukraine, by the will of the US-led imperialist forces to transform this war into a world imperialist war.
It is there that the voice of the people's war in India, the voice in defence of the rights of political prisoners, it is there that the intransigent struggle in support of the gigantic movement of peasants, workers, and adivasi peoples against the fascist Hindu regime finds its hearing and support. In the consideration that the struggle of the oppressed peoples is one, it is indivisible and successful if it is led by the proletariat with its party, its united front and its People's Army.
Honor and glory to Professor Saibaba!
Long live the 20th Anniversary of the Communist Party of India (Maoist)!
Maximum support for the people's war in India!
Maximum support for the Communist Party of India (Maoist) leading it!
Long live proletarian internationalism embodied by its two aspects:
revolution within their own countries; support for those who lead the same revolution in all countries of the world.
