Teachers strike and repression in Rio de Janeiro
Thousands of teachers decided to went on strike on November 25 in Rio de Janeiro. Afterwards they marched and closed down a big part of one of the main avenues of the city. During the morning more than 2,000 gathered in one assembly to decide to strike. This was the biggest teachers assembly since 2013.
The workers protested against the deterioration of their rights such as the reduction of holidays, the increase of working hours without increase of the wages, the worsening of the education and of its quality, etc.
The assembly unanimously voted to go on strike and there was a combative demonstration.
The demonstration soon faced police repression. The Military Police attempted to block the way of the demonstration and attacked the protesters with paralyzing and tear gasses. One teacher was arrested and due to that the protesters marched to the police station until he was released.
Demonstration against the 6×1 scale in Porto Alegre
On Sunday 24 of November there was a rally and a demonstration by the workers in Porto Alegre. They protested against the 6×1 scale.protests due to that in Brazil, in which they were already mobilizations in Porto Alegre..... During the march the workers made agitation before a supermarket where the workers are adjusted to the 6×1 scale.
