Trump won the US elections. And he won them in a big way actually, there was no head-to-head, as all observers said and as many actually hoped, so that in the end this head-to-head would stop Trump's march. Reality, however, is there to show that Trump has won even in the so-called key states and is the new President of the United States.
The workers, the labourers, the women, the youth, the popular masses need to know immediately the position of the vanguard proletarians and communists - as we are - and to have an immediate orientation as to what this victory means and what its effects will be not only in the United States but also in the world system, in Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America and, consequently, the effects they may have in our country, in Italy.
The key point is that Trump is the President of an imperialist country engaged in a war and a march towards world imperialist war on all the zones of the world. The point to be made clearly is that Trump is the president of industrial and financial capitalism and of the most reactionary wing of industrial capital and finance capital.
Saying that, it means to affirm what the communist movement in Nazism time debated and identified, with the war also reaction advances, and reaction in the countries, a form of fascism and Nazism appropriate to the various countries. So Trump's victory is the victory of this Nazi-imperialism that means maximum freedom for the bosses, for the companies, maximum freedom for finance capital, for the war industry, for everything that is reactionary in the country and this means dictatorship towards the proletarians and the popular masses, dictatorship against the movements of political opposition, it means hunting down migrants, deportations and expulsions, it means taking away freedoms and regimenting youth and for women it means driving them back into a modern Middle Ages in which their rights are cancelled, double oppression is strengthened and the war against women that is already underway in many countries continues: "men who hate women" have come to power and Trump is a clear expression of this.
Everything can then be done in terms of analysis, to see what economic, political, cultural factors characterized this victory, but its true nature cannot be hidden.
We are already seeing the first effects in the Middle East. What is Trump's position on the Zionist state of Israel and the ongoing genocide? "Let Israel finish the job," so it is a green light to continue until the end of the genocide of the Palestinian people.
What is the position with respect to Iran and the Arab countries? That they must be with the United States of America, or they are enemies, Iran in particular, and therefore it is a green light for war on Iran, with American imperialism behind it.
On the international level, Trump says that he will stop the war in Ukraine but he will stop it under the banner of the affirmation of the program of American imperialism in which the interests of its military arm prevail over everything; which means either that Russia agrees with the United States according to the interests of imperialism and NATO led by it or that the war will continue and will be, even more than before, an open war against the other imperialist powers. On the Asian theatre, it is inevitable that the contradiction between US imperialism and China will sharpen. This means a war that will cross the Asian continent.
So, on the international level we have no doubt: Trump means even more war, within what is the general line of the American ruling class that we are seeing at work, implemented in the Biden years and from which his candidate, Kamala Harris, has absolutely not detached.
The line of fascism and Nazism internally, the line of first of all the interests of big industrial and financial capital: on these points it is necessary that the whole working-class, proletarian and popular movement in our country, within the framework of the whole working-class, proletarian, popular movement in the world, take note of this.
There can be no doubt about this. And it is up to us, the communist proletarian vanguards, to us as an integral part of the anti-fascist, anti-imperialist movement, to us as a class trade union movement, to clarify our ranks, to unite what must be united to fight this world war that the American elections also put in place. War that must be waged in every country and therefore in our country.
We have seen how Elon Musk, the purest and most reactionary expression of financial Capital and media dominance in the age of Internet and social media, has been a fundamental prop of Trump's campaign and today he cries victory exactly like him and seems to be the first interlocutor of this Capital that supports him. We have seen Elon Musk come to Italy to openly support Fratelli d'Italia, Meloni, and therefore it is evident that the victory in the United States will be reflected in Italy in an advance of the fascist-imperialist march of its figures who represent it today, the two souls of the government, Meloni and Salvini (Salvini, as we know, is the first in this country who has always supported Trump and has continued to cheer Trump, throughout this election campaign).
On the international side, which is reflected internally in our country, a much more careful observation must be made of what really happened in the United States.
Trump managed to highlight how the system of government and power and the fraction of Capital that was in power with Biden, Kamala Harris' election campaign was an expression of the rich, of the powers that be, of those who control the state; he managed to label Harris as left-wing, "far left", when in reality she was not and could not be, since Harris has long been a part of the political power of the American imperialist state and the classes that have supported it until now.
Nevertheless, Trump has managed to ride the populist sentiments present in the masses towards the ruling class and its expressions - in its expressions must be included the whole apparatus of actors, artists, who evidently seemed in the eyes of the broad American masses as representatives of the world of those who are well off - and the permanent smile of Kamala Harris, in the face of the serious real situations that are being experienced in the country, has been a factor that has distanced, not that has brought the masses closer.
The masses are always at the center. The weight of the economic crisis, of the contradictions on a global level, of the trade war has also spilled over to the masses in the United States. And significant mass sectors have been directed - starting from their economic conditions that have also seen the worsening of work, wages and other forms of impoverishment - by Trump's presidency in pectore and by the entire system of financial and industrial capital, the consensus apparatuses, social networks and so on, to act as the real mass basis of Trump's victory.
In America, the abstention rate is very high and remains so even in this election campaign, despite the polarization that has produced that a part of the electorate has returned to the vote. The substance, therefore, remains that it is a false democracy, a democracy of financial and industrial oligarchies that chooses who can be its main interpreter. To conduct electoral campaigns in the United States you need hundreds of millions who are invested in the electoral campaign and this means that in any case the electoral campaigns are entirely managed by the rich who choose their representative, who will never be a representative of the popular masses.
The American electoral system is falsely democratic. It is in the name of the extreme majoritarian system, in each state only one more vote is enough because the so-called "great electors", who then represent the definitive element of the presidential elections, are the expression of those who win even with a single vote. All this has nothing to do with democracy, not even with parliamentary democracy in the pure sense.
So it is an anti-democratic vote and therefore even now we cannot consider that the whole situation is enclosed in the vote.
The broad masses, who in America are often immigrants or of migrant origins, do not have access to the vote or do not vote. This means that Trump does not represent them even from a purely numerical point of view. The mass abstention on this occasion was also relevant, in particular for the issue of Biden's support for the State of Israel and its genocide in Palestine, which meant that a series of sectors of the progressive world and critical of the imperialist policy of the United States, certainly could not support Harris despite the advancing danger of Trump's victory. If Trump is a fascist, Harris has appeared to be a criminal in support of Biden's wars, of the Zionist State of Israel. This meant that even progressive and left-wing sectors certainly did not vote on this occasion for the so-called "lesser of two evils" represented by Harris.
But the real problem is that the working and popular masses lack organized parties, social forces that are able to organize their struggle and their dissent against the entire system. This leaves the field open to the reaction that can ride the minute problems, the unstopped wave of anti-immigrant racism, originating precisely from the imperialist system and the impoverishment of the peoples that the imperialist system produces in Latin America as well as in Asia, Africa and all over the world.
Imperialism therefore first produces a situation in which the vast masses of the world's poor are forced to flee their countries and come to the imperialist countries in order to escape from war, misery and hunger, and on the other hand it transforms all this into a gigantic enslavement of immigrants. And to impose this enslavement, the most reactionary policies of a racist, Nazi nature are advancing.
This mixture produces the Trump presidency today.
From the point of view of the effects in Europe. Trump is said to be against Europe. In reality, Trump won the election with a mass reactionary movement called MAGA, which means "Make America Great Again", in which the domination of American imperialism must be absolute - a domination that has largely gone into crisis in this long post-war period and which must return to being what it was before. This domination means an objective domination of American capitalism/imperialism also vis-à-vis Europe. This, on the economic level, pushes the imperialist countries to choose between two ways: to ally themselves on the terms of Trump and American imperialism or to produce their own imperialism, in a situation, however, in which the imperialist governments and countries are divided among themselves and there is strong competition between them, an imbalance of economies - just think of France and Germany compared to Italy and the other countries of the whole Europe. In this situation, the rise of Trump calls on the imperialist countries to go down the same path.
On the NATO level, it means advancing in the march already underway of rearmament, of preparation for war. All imperialist countries, in their own way, are already doing this. The official and unofficial chronicles are full of the agreements of the various imperialist countries to concentrate a large part of public spending on rearmament and support for the war industry; just as within the countries there is a desire to follow Trump to defend the interests of the industrial and financial bourgeoisie in every single European country, to follow him in the legislation on maximum freedom for the bosses and for big finance, in the anti-strike legislation, in the laws that achieve maximum exploitation and minimum rights for workers and labourers, in a framework of precariousness, unemployment, attack on wages, health.
Trump, moreover, has become the standard-bearer of a policy that denies the environmental crisis and therefore of considering all environmentalists and the environmental movement as an enemy, an enemy of "development", industry and so on, characterizing in this sense a significant part of his electoral campaign.
On this terrain also in European countries through the ruling classes the same policy is advancing. So it is clear that in Europe, the continuity of the economic, political, military alliance with the United States prevails or not - and this depends a lot on the United States, the path that these countries intend to follow internally is the same as that of MAGA, which will mean "make Germany great again" and this means Nazism, "make Italy great again" which means fascism for the reality of our country.
Clearly modern Nazism, fascism, new fascism, new Nazism adapted to today's times but with the same strategic contents that it had in the era in which fascism and Nazism were established.
So let's go back to the first appeal. The American elections show that the world is heading towards a world imperialist war of which the great imperialist powers, America in the lead, take paternity. And war means reaction, dictatorship, fascism, in the forms suited to each country, and it means unloading the crisis and the costs of war and dictatorships on the proletarians and the popular masses.
But all this is happening in a framework in which the proletarians and the popular masses are neither conscious nor organized up to what is happening. They are prey to two attitudes: the domination of the ideas of the ruling class or the social and political passivity reinforced by the media and social media system, which makes them unable to read the political and social situation that actually exists in the country.
This poses the need for the advanced proletarians, the communists, all anti-fascist, anti-imperialist forces to do a great job among the working class, the popular masses, to wage a civil war, starting from the defence of the economic interests of the masses on the terrain of ideas, of politics, to build the forces that can be the only response to the reactionary march that even Trump's elections indicate.
The only answer is struggle. The only answer is the Party of the working class, the proletarian vanguard that reorganizes itself and performs its function as a guide and instrument for raising the consciousness and struggle of the masses; it is the United Front that can only be anti-fascist, anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist, a united front of the masses that is necessary in America today as it is necessary throughout the world, in a phase in which imperialism, the "Trump" government, means state violence against all social opposition and all forms of dissent. To the violence of the imperialist states marching towards war, towards reaction, it is necessary to oppose the organization of the force of the proletariat, of the popular masses, able of responding to this violence, that is, a militant force that builds in the fire of the class struggle a new proletarian army capable of fighting this epochal battle, in America as well as throughout the world, so as in our country.
