Massive gathering and protest demonstration by Lok Morcha Punjab and Inquilabi Kender Punjab against unjust war waged against Pakistan and using Pahalgam incident for communal political motives-
In Barnala, on May 8th, Revolutionary organisations Lok Morcha Punjab and Inquilabi Kendra Punjab held a massive and impactful gathering and protest in Barnala, Punjab protesting the use of Pahalgam incident by the Modi government for triggering the fratricidal war waged against Pakistan in the garb of avenging injustice.
' Stop the unjust war waged against Pakistan in the name of revenge' and 'Stop using Pahalgam incident for communal political motives' were the slogans that reverberated in the gathering.
Lok Morcha leaders said that the BJP government, and the Sangh Parivar, has already hatched a conspiracy to grab political gains from this incident., reinforcing the Hindutva narrative, which has plagued the country in the past decades. They systematically recounted how historically the rights of Kashmiri people for self -determination was mercilessly suppressed, and how the Sangh Parivar hatched a conspiracy to wipe out the Kashmiri people from their homeland. A link was also forged between how US Imperialism aligned with the strategy of Hindutva nationalism.
They exposed how a current of malicious propaganda is being unleashed against the Muslim and Kashmiri communities to cement a spirit of collective vengeance to unleash a carnage against them. They gave examples of numerous attacks across the country targeting members of these communities, especially students.
Leaders elaborated how the purpose of igniting such incidents is to intensify communal polarization in the country, trigger Hindu nationalism, and garner votes through this strategy. They summed up how the killings would be used as a weapon to whip up anti-Pakistan frenzy, and add fuel to the hysteria of Hindutva politics.
They reminded participants how Jammu & Kashmir remained intensely militarized, with Modi government’s policy of suppressing democratic voices failing to achieve ither peace or security.
They explained how through the guise of fanatical nationalism triggered by this incident, attempts are being made to camouflage the Modi government’s subservience to imperialist forces. Also highlighted how despite widespread condemnation of the massacre by thousands of Kashmiris, divisive forces were banging every nail in the wall to communalise the issue. They recalled how in the wake of the tragedy, communal elements have tread path of provocative rhetoric to trigger a tense, war-like atmosphere.
The leaders demanded the immediate stoppage of attempts to plant communal divisions in society using this incident, guaranteed safety for Kashmiri and Muslim citizens across the country and an impartial investigation into the incident.
They also demanded to eradicate the heavy deployment of security forces in Kashmir under the pretext of "strengthening security" and repealing draconian laws like AFSPA and UAPA. Expressing solidarity with the victims of the incident, the leaders called on all people to take the initiative to safeguard communal harmony in the country. Significant instances wee recounted of Kashmiri Hindus saving their Muslim brethren and vice -versa.
They emphasised that collective responsibility must be under taken to ensure the safety of Kashmiri students, the Muslim community, and others. They urged people to resist the fanatical nationalist current and communal divisive conspiracy of anti-people forces. They underlined the importance of the organised democratic of Punjab to cement bonds with the secular forces of Kashmir to give a mortal blow to the saffron fascists and any kind of Isalamophobia.
Adressing the gathering Jagmail Singh, State secretary of Lok Morcha Punjab summarised, that inspite of
the communal harmony preserved by all communities against the Pahalgam incident, it is being exploited for triggering communal divisions across the country. and as a weapon to garner people against the already targeted minority of Muslim and Kashmiri communities. The objective of such mobilization is to widen the cracks among people by their unity and to prevent them from becoming an effective force against the government's anti-people policies.Mukhtiar Singh Poohla, leader of Inquilabi Kendar Punjab shed light on the imperialist plunder plaguing the country giving concrete facts and figures, which was put into obscurity under the cover of this war frenzy. He stated that new imperialist agreements and treaties are being signed to intensify this loot, which would jeopardise the welfare on the people of India. He advocated opposing this war hysteria and imbibing unity among all sections of society against the imperialist exploitation.
Sheerin, leader of Lok Morcha Punjab elaborated the Kashmir issue in context of this incident and called for standing by Kashmiri people's right to self-determination, harbouring unity among all nationalities and oppressed people against imperialist exploitation, and relentlessly combating all the initiatives to dismantle this unity.
State secretary of Inquilabi Kendra Punjab, Kanwaljit Khanna reflected on the tyranny of the Operation Kagar, which patronised corporate plunder of tribal areas and ruthlessly supresses any form of people’s resistance with bullets. He called for condemning the Indian government giving leeway of all resources including water, forest and land for the use of imperialist countries like America and big corporates and against the reactionary anti-people policies adopted by the Bhagwant Mann government towards isolating struggling sections.
In this convention the gathering passed resolutions against the killing of tribals and revolutionaries by the Indian government in Bastar and Operation Kagar, against the ban imposed by the Bhagwant Mann government on sit-ins and protests, against the use of water dispute issue by all opportunist parties to ignite tussle among the people and against the fratricidal war incited by the Modi government.
Farmers, labourers, employees, pensioners, contract workers, rationalist and democratic sections assembled in this gathering, which had colourful presentation of songs and poems. Both organizations announced to continue this campaign for duration of one month, along with supporting the gathering being held in Sangrur on May 22 by the Anti- Operation Green Hunt Platform against the atrocities being perpetrated on tribals. The stage was conducted by Lok Morcha Punjab leader Sukhwinder Singh Bathinda.
