Communist leader İbrahim Kaypakkaya, who was murdered by torture on 18 May 1973, was commemorated at his grave in Çorum on the 52nd anniversary of his murder. Partizan, Revolutionary 78's Federation, Ortakça Life Association and Theory and Politics attended the commemoration.
The participants, who travelled from Ankara for the commemoration, went to the cemetery after being subjected to an identity check by the gendarmerie at the entrance of the cemetery. At the ceremony, the participants said, ‘This steel does not forget the water it receives! We remember with respect!’ banner was unfurled.
The commemoration started with a presentation by Partizan and continued with a moment of silence. A joint speech was made by the Ortakça Life Association. Flowers and Partizan pennant were left on the grave.
In the speeches, the basic approaches that distinguish İbrahim Kaypakkaya from other revolutionary leaders were emphasised. In the statement, his criticism of Kemalism, his analyses of the class character of the state, his approach to the Kurdish and Armenian issue and his radical stance against revisionist currents were underlined.
It was stated that Kaypakkaya constructed an independent political line against the opportunist tendencies in the left of Turkey and was commemorated with the metaphor of ‘the spear that does not fit in the sack’. It was stated that he shaped the strategy of revolution from the perspective of the working class, peasants and oppressed peoples, and it was emphasised that he was the name that laid the ideological foundations of the TKP-ML.
In the speeches, it was also stated that Kaypakkaya's analyses, described as ‘the most dangerous thought’, are still valid today, although some of them need updating.

Then a cinevision and documentary were shown. The programme ended with poetry recitals.
İbrahim Kaypakkaya was commemorated in Istanbul on the 52nd anniversary of his assassination
52 years ago, communist leader İbrahim Kaypakkaya, who was murdered in Diyarbakır torture centres, was commemorated with an event organised in Kadıköy.
SMF, Partizan and YDİ Çağrı commemorated communist leader İbrahim Kaypakkaya in Kadıköy on the 52nd anniversary of his murder. At the commemoration, ‘Wherever there is resistance, Kaypakkaya lives there. We must raise the struggle to make communism dominant’ was emphasised.
The commemoration started with a minute of silence for the martyrs of the revolution. After the minute of silence, a cinevision show about communist leader İbrahim Kaypakkaya was shown. After the screening, the speakers took the floor.
‘Kaypakkaya is still current’
The representative of Partisan took the floor first. The representative stated that the ideas of the communist leader İbrahim Kaypakkaya are still up to date and said:
"It has been 52 years since Kaypakkaya was murdered, but some things have changed in 52 years, some things have not changed. Among the things that have not changed are the fact that Kaypakkaya's ideas remain up-to-date and that Kaypakkaya's ideas are proved to be correct again and again in social developments. Kaypakkaya's statements about the structure of Turkey, the Turkish Republic, the ways and methods of struggle, the necessity of violence, Kemalism and the Kurdish national question are still up-to-date, scientific and correct. There is one more thing that has not changed: 52 years have passed, but there is no change in fascism's, the Turkish state's fear of Kaypakkaya. We experienced this once again during the Saraçhane protests on 1 May and again this year during the current 18 May work. During the work on Kaypakkaya that we carried out, especially on 1 May, we witnessed that all the templates, stickers and posters with Kaypakkaya's pictures were deliberately circulated and torn apart. The state's fear of Kaypakkaya has not changed. Their concerns and anxieties about Kaypakkaya's views have not changed. 52 years have passed, but the ideas, scientific views, methodology and methodology put forward by Kaypakkaya during this time are still up to date. This is the main thing for us as well. Kaypakkaya, in his very short life, put his finger on many problems of this country that could be seen as taboo, made analyses and constantly surpassed himself."
‘Wherever there is resistance, Kaypakkaya lives there’
Noting that this year they used the expression ‘Wherever there is resistance, Kaypakkaya lives there’, the Partizan representative said, ‘This is not a simple agitation expression. We believe that Kaypakkaya is a reference address for those who resist and struggle in Saraçhane, in the Gezi resistance, in the struggle of workers against the bosses, or in the struggle of the Kurdish nation against national exploitation and oppression. The expression ‘Wherever there is resistance, Kaypakkaya lives there’ takes its reality a little bit from here. In this sense, 52 years have passed. We believe that if Kaypakkaya is alive today, despite all the pressures, ignoring and hiding efforts, it is thanks to both the scientific and correctness of his thoughts and the costly struggle of his successors. Once again, we commemorate all May martyrs and all martyrs of the revolution in the person of Kaypakkaya with respect.’
In his speech, the Partizan representative also drew attention to İbrahim Kaypakkaya's understanding of revolutionary organisation and his pioneering role:
"Kaypakkaya was not only a theoretician, but also a cadre who assumed a leading role in the construction of revolutionary practice. His understanding of organisation was based on the search for ways to make revolution possible under concrete conditions, combined with the strategy of people's war. Today we also act with this understanding. Kaypakkaya's understanding of organisation is based on a revolutionary line that is the product of the collective struggle of the people and the oppressed, not of individuals. Therefore, keeping his legacy alive is possible not only by commemorating him, but also by organising, struggling and walking on the revolutionary line."
