Solidarity Statement Opposing State Repression of Protesters in Indonesia

Statement of the ILPS Indonesia Country Chapter

The People’s Struggle Front (FPR) alongside the International League of People’s Struggle (ILPS) Indonesia, with its member organizations wishes to convey our deepest condolences for the martyrdom of the people’s fighter Rheza Sendy Pratama, a student of AMIKOM University Yogyakarta, during the protests in Yogyakarta in August 31st, 2025.

We salute his selfless sacrifice and martyrdom!

The brutal fascism of the Indonesian state security forces under the regime of Prabowo Subianto is being increasingly revealed in a highly intensive manner. Chains of repression since the 25th up to the 31st August protests resulted in thousands of arrests, state violence, terrorism, and even outright murder. Even Rheza himself was martyred after a series of beatings and torture bythe fascist police force. He fell when the nation and her people were yet to get over their grief after the death of the martyr Affan Kurniawan in Jakarta! At the same time, arrests, violence, provocation, and attempts at division keep on going under Prabowo regime’s state machineries. Its purpose: To sow terror and fear, suppress the Movement, and systematically pacify the masses.

The senseless martyrdom of our comrades, the wounds sustained by our valorous fighters, have to be turned into the fuel for national unity and the advance of the Indonesian national-popular struggle for liberation. The people’s movement in Indonesia have to unite and put forward the National Democratic struggle, win our concrete and genuine demands, and annihilate the old order, burning to the ashes with it semi-colonialism and semi-feudalism!

Down with imperialism!

Long live International Solidarity!

Win the National Democratic Struggle in Indonesia!

Oppressed-Exploited Peoples of the World, Unite!

Signed,

ILPS Indonesia Country Chapter
