RSU Calls for International Solidarity Against Imperialist Aggression

 

Today, the United States has launched bombing raids and military operations in various locations, including Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. Through this military operation, U.S. forces have also kidnapped Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife.
In response to this attack, Dilip Roy, President of Revolutionary Student Unity and Jabir Ahmed Jubel, General Secretary, issued a joint statement saying, “To seize control of Venezuela’s natural resources and establish U.S. imperialist power in the country, the United States has attacked Venezuela’s sovereignty and kidnapped the country’s elected president. Last September, the U.S. also deployed military warships and naval forces in the Caribbean Sea near Venezuela. For a long time, U.S. imperialism has been plotting military aggression to oust the anti-imperialist Maduro government. The current bombings in the Venezuelan capital and the kidnapping of the elected president are essentially a declaration of war by the Americans against the country. In the past, the U.S. has engaged in wars by disregarding the sovereignty of various nations. Similarly, by attacking Venezuela, the U.S. is creating a war situation, endangering the lives of hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans, including women and children.”
The leaders further stated, “In the past, U.S. imperialism has carried out direct military aggression in various countries, including Iraq and Egypt, to seize mineral resources and control trade. In the same vein, the Donald Trump administration now seeks to overthrow the Maduro government through military intervention to establish control over oil and other mineral resources.”
The leaders urged, “We clearly believe that international solidarity must be built against any imperialist aggression on Venezuela’s sovereignty. Resisting imperialist aggression is the primary responsibility of democratic and progressive forces worldwide today.”
