COMMENT | Supporting the legitimate and justified uprising of the Iranian people is an international duty! We reject from the outset all approaches that distance themselves from or oppose the Iranian people's uprising, and we do not hesitate to openly defend our support for the Iranian people everywhere! The actions of the Iranian people against the current reactionary mullah regime continue. It is our duty to stand by and support the just and legitimate uprising of the people, without falling into the trap of the flawed and incomplete perspective of whether it is "in the interest of imperialists or not"!
The protests in Iran, which began on December 28, 2025, by the merchants of Tehran's Grand Bazaar against the economic crisis, continue in 111 cities across 21 provinces. Dozens have lost their lives, thousands have been detained, and regime forces are also suffering losses in these actions. The uprising against the regime, which uses all kinds of coercive and violent instruments, is spreading and growing in waves. Young people and women, in particular, continue to be at the forefront of the people's legitimate uprising.
COMMENT | It's also worthwhile to view this as a continuation of the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadî" (Women, Life, Freedom) protests that began after the assassination of Mahsa Amini in 2022. At that time, the protests, initially led by women and youth, transformed into actions supported and participated in by all segments of the population.
Should we ignore this popular uprising because of imperialists?
During the ongoing protests, Iranian labor unions issued a statement analyzing the situation as follows: "The protests that have begun are a popular uprising against poverty, high inflation, economic collapse, oppressive and coercive policies, the silencing of the people, violence against women, and the undermining of the fundamental principles of social life."
The definition of "popular uprising" is crucial. In recent discussions, some circles have described this legitimate and justified popular uprising as being supported by the US and Israel, and that they are "driving people into the streets" to bring back to power representatives of the former monarchy, such as Pahlavi.
Clearly, they believe they are standing on an anti-imperialist front by linking the basis and strength of this popular uprising to the interests of imperialists. It is possible that former monarchists have joined the uprising and are trying to draw it to their side. They even try to portray it this way using Western media outlets. However, the overwhelming majority of the popular uprising consists of masses who oppose the oppressive regime and aim for freedom, democracy, equality, etc.
We see that people from all oppressed nations, faiths, genders, and segments of the population, primarily Kurds, are playing a leading role in the uprising. This is an uprising against the reactionary and fascist Iranian regime, which has maintained an atmosphere of fear, oppression, and violence at the highest level since coming to power.
To ignore, dismiss, or even side against the just and legitimate uprising of the people by saying "imperialists have a hand in it" or "imperialists have interests" is a flawed understanding.
Supporting peoples who fight, rise up, and revolt against fascist and reactionary regimes, wherever they may be in the world, is an international duty, independent of the plans of imperialist powers.
If imperialists or their extensions aim to divert the movement and subjugate it, our stance should be to warn the resistance forces against this and to wage an ideological struggle.
Petty-bourgeois revolutionaries may forget this, but proletarian revolutionaries should never forget or be mistaken about it!
In our country, too, some popular uprisings and national uprisings have been/are subjected to labels such as being "under the control and support of imperialists."
For example, some "nationalists" and certain parties and circles deeply dependent on the chauvinism of the dominant nation still try to condemn the Sheikh Said rebellion of 1925 as "a game of imperialism."
The Sheikh Said rebellion was a justified uprising of the Kurdish nation against the fascist and monolithic Turkish state. To distort and oppose the Kurds' just struggle and rebellion against the fascist regime in this way is nothing more than legitimizing the existing regime under the influence of dominant nation chauvinism!
In fact, not much has changed in a century. This mentality still continues to repeat the same rote and baseless statements, without the slightest shame or hesitation, linking the Rojava revolution and the gains of the Kurds to imperialists. The overwhelming majority of the people are against the current regime, as well as against imperialist intervention!
It is necessary to correctly assess the current situation in Iran. The main contradiction in Iran is the contradiction between the oppressed masses and the fascist and reactionary regime. We must not forget this and keep it in mind.
Of course, the ongoing popular uprising in Iran must not lead to a path that benefits the interests of monarchists and imperialists. We know that the overwhelming majority of those participating in the uprising were against the fascist regime as well as against imperialist intervention. However, it's crucial to accurately gauge the direction of the wind.
The uprising
There are also certain dangers stemming from the absence of a leading communist party, or any revolutionary party for that matter. Among these dangers is the possibility of developments that could genuinely benefit the imperialists. The people need to be vigilant about this.
Of course, these dangers cannot in any way diminish the legitimacy and justification of the rebellion. To remain distant or avoid the rebellion simply because such possibilities exist is not a sound policy.
There is a concrete reality: the reactionary mullah regime, which has been in power for years, continues to oppress and coerce the people in every way. The exploitative forces, using all the resources of the state for their own benefit, subject the people to violence, death, and poverty.
Although they have used all means and methods of violence, oppression, and coercion to intimidate and suppress the masses, the people's outpouring into the streets and rebellion against the current situation has become inevitable.
We reject from the outset all approaches that distance themselves from or oppose the Iranian people's uprising, and we will not hesitate to openly defend our support for the Iranian people everywhere! The uprisings of the world's peoples will grow; let us prepare!
Popular uprisings are ongoing in various countries around the world, and they will continue.
On the eve of the third imperialist war of partition, the crisis of the capitalist-imperialist system is growing. Peoples caught in the grip of economic crises, austerity policies, poverty, injustice, and misery are resorting to rebellion and revolt.
On one side are the US and other Western imperialists, and on the other is the other imperialist bloc led by China and Russia. Along with these, other reactionary governments and states, primarily Turkey, which are dependent on and act as subcontractors for these imperialist states, continue to align themselves. The budget allocated to unjust wars has reached enormous proportions in almost all countries. Military spending and the arms race continue at full speed.
More hunger, poverty, and death await the peoples of the world. Therefore, it is important to remember that today's popular uprisings are only a fragment of the resistance that will arise and engulf everything in the future!
As Chairman Mao said: "There is immense chaos under the sky, the situation is wonderful!"
Finally, it is worth remembering Comrade Lenin's call to the oppressed masses before the First Imperialist War of Partition: "International proletariat and oppressed peoples of the world, let us turn our arms against our own bourgeoisie!"
