Struggling Masses, 

On July 14, 2006, the killer RAB force of the then BNP-Jamaat coalition government murdered the Maoist leader of East Bengal, Comrade Kamrul Master, in Pabna by staging a drama of "crossfire." Prior to this, he was arrested from Dhaka along with his wife. Comrade Kamrul Master was a central leader of the Communist Party of East Bengal (Marxist-Leninist) (Red Flag). 

Comrade Kamrul Master became involved in revolutionary politics during his student days in the 1960s. Under the influence of the Naxalbari peasant struggle, a wave of agrarian revolution crashed over East Bengal; in its continuation, armed struggle spread rapidly across the country, including Pabna and Sirajganj. Comrade Kamrul Master came into contact with the politics of the then Communist Party of East Bengal (M-L). He dedicated himself whole-heartedly to the struggle to establish the power of workers and peasants in rural areas, including the armed war of 1971. For this reason, he had to spend several years in prison during the 1970s. After his release from prison, he re-engaged in the work of party reorganization. On his path to becoming one with the masses, he was also locally involved in various activities, including the expansion of education. Inspired by the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, Comrade Kamrul Master upheld the interests of the revolution above all else throughout his life. At every phase of the struggle, he applied the revolutionary politics of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism. He also served as the party's General Secretary for a period of time. Under his leadership, armed struggle developed in the regions of Pabna, Sirajganj, and Rajshahi. He played an important theoretical role, nationally and internationally, to advance the party and the revolutionary struggle of East Bengal. Throughout his life, Comrade Kamrul Master held fast to the revolutionary path of building guerrilla forces of landless-poor peasants in semi-colonial, semi-feudal East Bengal— seizing area-wise power in rural areas through struggle, including the elimination of class enemies. He played a tireless role in equipping the party and the masses with the consciousness of agrarian revolutionary politics. He conducted ideological struggles against right and left opportunism both inside and outside the party. He was active in identifying the positive and negative aspects of the armed revolutionary struggle in East Bengal and advancing it in a Maoist direction. 

The lives and livelihoods of the workers, peasants, and middle-class people of this country remain uncertain to this day. Losing their land day by day, poor peasants are being evicted from their villages destitute. Furthermore, there is no work in the cities— no fair wages for labor. Even when they sell their ancestral land to migrate abroad, they face inhuman toil, uncertainty, and the tyranny of middlemen. For women, this miserable existence takes on an even harsher dimension. Violence against women and children is also rising in the country. Prices of all essential commodities, including electricity, oil, and gas, are soaring today. Poor people are now further devastated by NGO debt. On the other hand, the bureaucratic-comprador elite capitalists and the jotedar-usurer class are looting billions of takas through plunder, corruption, and exploitation. In the post-regime period of the murderer Sheikh Hasina, fundamentalist-communal forces in the name of religion are taking advantage of political opportunities, through which the masses are being misled and divided. The liberation of the people has not come through any path— neither through so-called urban "mass uprisings," nor elections or reforms. Rather, all parties including BNP, Jamaat, NCP, and Awami League are parties of class enemies. They are agents of US, Russian, and Chinese imperialism, and Indian expansionism. Their goal is to intensify the exploitation of the masses through various treaties and to consolidate their own power. The army, police, and RAB are merely their guardians. The diverse ethnic groups of this country are also being exploited and oppressed by this ruling class. Across the world, too, the capitalist-imperialist system remains in a belligerent state. Just as the Russia-Ukraine-NATO war continues, the US and Israel together are imposing unjust wars upon the peoples of Iran, Palestine, and Lebanon. Inter-imperialist contradictions to establish hegemony in geopolitics and capture markets are growing acute. Navigating all these crises, Maoist struggles in various countries including India, the Philippines, and Turkey keep the masses steadfast on the path toward liberation. 

Struggling masses, Protracted People's War is the only path to liberation. For the liberation of workers and peasants, guerrilla warfare must be developed centered on agrarian revolution, preparing forces of landless-poor peasants aimed at establishing bases in rural areas, and eliminating class enemies to overthrow the authority of the exploiting class. The masses in cities and villages must be united through arming and organizing them within the program of the people's democratic revolution. 

Come, let us uphold the red flag of thousands of martyrs, including Comrade Kamrul Master, and establish a People's Democratic East Bengal oriented toward Communism and Socialism!
