England - Harry powell protest

Last year I was sentenced to four weeks in prison for refusing to pay
Council Tax.  I did this as a protest against the drastic cuts in social
care services being made by Nottingham City Council. These cuts, which
are still continuing, particularly impact on vulnerable people such as
the elderly and disabled.  I served two weeks before being released.

At 21.00 on Thursday, 10th. December on the ITV television channel there
is a programme entitled "Britain's Oldest Crooks".  It will include a
few minutes coverage of my case.  I was not imprisoned for committing a
criminal offence but for civil debt so I am not a "crook".  The progamme
was originally entitled 'Britain's Oldest Prisoners'.

The British Government can find plenty of money for bombing Iraq and
Syria.  The bombs and missiles they use cost hundreds of thousands of
pounds each.  Yet they cannot find adequate funds to enhance people's
lives in Britain.  If withholding Council Tax were to be taken up on a
mass scale then we could probably force the Government to spend more on
human welfare and less on death
