Maoists claim responsibility for Aurangabad explosion
Aurangabad: Maoists on Monday took responsibility for Sunday’s blast at Khadiha canal under Deo police station area of Aurangabad district. A CRPF commando was killed and two others were injured in the attack. In a statement, central zone committee spokesman of CPI (Maoist) Pranjeet said the blast was a revenge of Bandh-Goreya “fake encounter” in which four of their colleagues were killed by the security personnel.
Meanwhile, police have detained more than 12 persons in connection with Sunday’s blast. A three-member Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team from Patna collected samples from the blast site on Monday to ascertain the kind of explosive used to trigger the blast. A police official said on the condition of anonymity that top Maoists Nitesh and Pramjeet may have been involved in the blast. A massive manhunt has been launched in the district to arrest the Maoists involved in the attack.
One trooper killed in gun battle with Maoists in Jharkhand
One trooper of the para-military central forces was killed and another injured in a gun battle with Maoist guerrillas in Jharkhand’s Giridih district on Friday, police said. The contingent of security personnel was on a search operation in Pathhalgada jungle in Giridih district when the confrontation with the Maoist guerillas took place early on Friday, said the police.
The trooper who died in the gun battle and the other who was injured belonged to CoBRA force (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), a unit of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The police claimed that some Maoists were also killed but no dead body has been recovered. Maoist guerrillas are active in 18 of the 24 districts of the state.
Zonal IG N H Khan said anti-Maoist operation would be intensified in the area.
Chhattisgarh: Three police jawans injured in encounter with Naxals
Raipur: Three District Reserve Group (DRG) personnel were on Tuesday injured in a fierce gunbattle with Maoists in the dense forests of Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district, police said. The face-off took place during the wee hours in the forest of Kilam Becha village when a joint squad of the state’s DRG and local police was carrying out an anti-Naxal operation in the region, Special Director General of Police, Anti-Maoist operations, DM Awasthi told PTI.
While they were cordoning-off the forest in Kilam Becha, a group of armed rebels opened indiscriminate fire on them leaving three DRG jawans injured, he said.However, when the security personnel retaliated heavily, the Naxals fled from the spot.
Reinforcement was rushed to the spot and the injured jawans were evacuated from the forest. They are being airlifted to Raipur for treatment, Awasthi said.
The injured personnel have been identified as sub-inspector Pushpraj Nagwanshi, assistant sub-inspector Awadh Ram Sahu and constable Vinay Singh, police said. Nagwanshi sustained critical injuries in the incident. Police suspect that some Naxals might have also been injured or killed in the gun battle as blood stains were found at the spot, he said. A combing operation has been launched in the region, the police official said.
A joint team of security forces from Narayanpur and Kondagaon districts had launched the anti-Naxal operation yesterday in the bordering areas of the districts, located around 400 kms from Raipur. During the operation, exchange of fire between the security personnel and Naxals took place at various places.“The Rohtas and Gaya police have also been asked to join the operations,” said the IG. Three cylinder bombs planted on Deo-Kanchanpur road had exploded when the commandos of 205th CoBRA unit were on an anti-Maoist operation in the area following information about the presence of ultras. Aporva Deka of CRPF’s CoBRA unit, who hailed from Assam, was killed in the attack

Maoists torch five trucks in Madhya Pradesh’s Balaghat
Maoists torched five bamboo laden trucks on Tuesday at Dhiri Murrum village in Balaghat. The Maoists also beat up a forest department employee who was boarding one of the trucks. The incident occurred after chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s visit to the district where he declared 37 gram panchayats as digital panchayats. DC Sagar, inspector general of police, Balaghat zone said the police received information about burning of the trucks from the district forest officer. Balaghat is a Maoist-affected district where extremists have been opposing development works for a long time. This is the third incident of arson in the area since April 2016.
Maoists set ablaze 10 vehicles in Jharkhand
Suspected Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres torched at least 10 heavy vehicles engaged in a road construction project in McCluskieganj in Ranchi District on June 10 afternoon, reports The Telegraph. Dozens of armed extremists raided the construction site in Dulli-Konka forests near Ranchi-Latehar border around 1.30 pm and thrashed workers of Spica Projects and Infrastructures Pvt. Ltd. The firm, owned by Santosh Kumar Singh, is building McCluskieganj-Chama Main Road. The Maoists set on fire a 10-wheeler truck, five tractors, two JCBs and two dumpers.
