Workers of the world, unite!
Observe the 19th Martyrdom Anniversary of
Comrade Tapan Mahmud on June 18th!
“Our task is to inspire the broad masses, to arm them, and to establish the state power of the people through people's war.”
— Comrade Charu Majumdar
Struggling Masses,
Comrade Tapan Mahmud was martyred on June 18, 2008. Under the orders of the then-military-controlled caretaker government, the killer RAB force murdered Comrade Tapan and Comrade Rita in Kushtia district by staging a fake drama of 'crossfire'. Comrade Tapan Mahmud was the General Secretary of the Communist Party of East Bengal (Marxist-Leninist) (People's War).
Comrade Tapan was born in Jhenaidah district. Due to it being a party-influenced region, he came into contact with revolutionary politics from his childhood. Later, he served in the district committee and divisional committee of the Communist Party of East Bengal (M-L). He was imprisoned in the nineties. Once, through the success of a daring party operation, he managed to escape according to plan from a vehicle of the state forces. As a result, the state machinery grew terrified. In the light of agrarian revolutionary politics, Comrade Tapan built struggles in rural areas. He developed armed struggle against the local exploiting class and the enemies of the people from anti-people political parties. At the same time, several armed attacks were planned and led by him in urban areas against the state forces who serve as the guardians of this exploitative state machinery. Comrade Tapan contemptuously rejected the drama of surrender in the name of so-called 'revolutionary politics' and waged an intense struggle against the state's loyal, opportunist-revisionist agents. Consequently, the state-sponsored drama of surrender was brought to an end at that time.
When the party split during an unresolved internal struggle within the then-party, Comrade Tapan assumed the responsibility of General Secretary of the CPEB (M-L) (People's War). Prior to this, he was a Central-member of the undivided party. Despite various limitations and deviations, Comrade Tapan did not step back from the struggle to establish a People's Democratic East Bengal. The plan of the state and the exploiting class is always to demean the dignity of the revolution and the revolutionaries, which is a part of the reactionary psychological warfare of the modern era.
Friends, even at present, the ruling-exploiting class continues its harshest exploitation and oppression over the ordinary workers, peasants, and middle-class people. The lives of workers and peasants are perpetually uncertain, despairing, and insecure. The bureaucratic-comprador capitalist and feudal classes sit in power, busy securing profits for their own class interests and their masters, the imperialist countries. Not only East Bengal, but the entire world today is suffering the horrific consequences of the contradiction between US imperialism and Russian-Chinese imperialism. Peace-loving ordinary people across the world have become victims of unjust wars in various regions. Nonetheless, people's war continues in various countries, including India, the Philippines, and Turkey.
In the light of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, Comrade Tapan Mahmud regarded protracted people's war as the only path toward the liberation of the people in this semi-colonial, semi-feudal system; inspired by the Great Naxalbari Peasant Uprising and the teachings of Comrade Charu Majumdar, he built up the struggle. Under the leadership of the working class, he endeavored to apply the agrarian revolutionary line of establishing bases through the process of eliminating class enemies and gradually expanding forces by developing guerrilla squads of landless-poor peasants in rural areas.
Come, along the blood-stained path of over a thousand revolutionaries including Comrade Tapan Mahmud, let us establish a People's Democratic East Bengal oriented toward Communism and Socialism. Let us hold fast to the path of protracted people's war to overthrow the exploitative social and state system of all imperialisms including the US, Indian expansionism, and their domestic lackeys.
Long Live Comrade Tapan Mahmud!
Long Live Marxism-Leninism-Maoism!
Long Live the Teachings of Comrade Charu Majumdar!
