Discussion Meeting, Red Flag March and Cultural Programme Held on the Occasion of the 50th Death Anniversary of Comrade Mao Zedong

Today, 9 September, 2026, a discussion meeting, red flag march and cultural programme were held at the Paira Chattar of TSC, University of Dhaka, on the occasion of the 50th death anniversary of Comrade Mao Zedong, the founder of China’s New Democratic, Socialist and Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution and the great leader and teacher of the international proletarian class.

At the discussion meeting, the speakers discussed in detail Comrade Mao Zedong’s revolutionary political struggle, his struggle against imperialism and exploitation, and his contributions towards the liberation of the oppressed people. The speakers said that Mao Zedong’s ideology and political teachings remain important today in the struggles of the people around the world against imperialism, exploitation and deprivation, inequality and oppression. They called for united struggle to establish the rights of the exploited people, including workers and peasants, and to establish an exploitation-free social system.

At the beginning of the programme, a red flag march was held. Later, a discussion meeting and a cultural programme organized by the “People’s Cultural Artists’ Song Group” were held. Revolutionary people’s songs, songs and poems were presented at the cultural programme.

The discussion meeting was chaired by Maoist poet Hasan Fakri, President, Shaheed Revolutionary and Patriotic Memory Council and Convener, Comrade Mao Zedong’s 50th Death Anniversary Observance Committee. The meeting was conducted by Comrade Arunav Ashraf, Vice-President, Revolutionary Student-Youth Movement, Dhaka Metropolitan.

Highlighting various aspects of Comrade Mao Zedong’s revolutionary life and struggle, the speakers said that under the leadership of Mao Zedong, the people of China completed the revolution through a prolonged struggle against imperialism, bureaucrat-comprador capitalism and feudalism. The struggle led by him deeply influenced the liberation struggles of the oppressed people of the world.

The meeting called for strengthening the people’s struggle against imperialism-expansionism, bureaucrat-comprador capitalism, feudalism and religious fascism.
