Philippines: NPA Unit Disarms Despotic Landlord In Negros Occidental Province

Ang Bayan Ngayon | October 3, 2026

The New People’s Army (NPA)-Northern Negros (Roselyn Jean Pelle Command) boldly launched a raid and disarmament operation against a despotic landlord in the town of Toboso, Negros Occidental Province on September 22. The Red army’s armed action targeted Clint Aranas and his hired goons in Sitio Ma-aswa, Barangay Gen. Luna.

According to NPA-Northern Negros, Red fighters seized an M4, a Micro Galil, and a KG9 sub-machine gun from Aranas’s office. Aranas and his family are notorious for exploiting farmers in Northern Negros communities. They committed land grabbing and harassment of peasants using private armed men.

Aranas also held national positions in the Philippine government to preserve the family’s landholdings and further expand its wealth. He was appointed second commissioner for legal affairs at the Bureau of Internal Revenue in 2016.

He was appointed president and general manager of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) in 2017. Auditing the GSIS, the Commission on Audit reported “illegal incentives” worth ₱260.5 million that Aranas gave to agency employees.

He also served as an official of the Dutertes’ PDP-Laban. He now stands as secretary general of the Party for Democratic Reforms, which currently supports Vice President Sara Duterte.

Following its successful armed action, NPA-Northern Negros thanked the masses who fearlessly and tirelessly support the revolutionary movement. The unit said the armed action proves that the people’s army will remain faithful to its role as the peasants’ bastion against exploitative landlords.
