Jharkhand: Encounter between security personnel, Maoists in Ghatsila
An
encounter between security personnel and Maoists on Saturday took place
inside a jungle at Gorabandha in Ghatsila sub-division, a LWE stronghold
in Jharkhand, following which a camp was busted.
East Singhbhum Superintendent of Police (Rural), Md Arshi said the encounter took place when security personnel from CRPF and district armed police were on an anti-Maoist operation in the LWE strongholds of the sub-division.
They had launched a search at Dangra Pahar on being informed about a Maoist camp there when the ultras fired at them forcing them to retaliate in self-defense, he said.
The encounter lasted for an hour from 1030 AM to 11.30 AM when fire was exchanged, Arshi said, adding the Maoists were forced to retreat.
There was no casualty among the security personnel. Later, the security personnel demolished the Maoist camp and recovered two canbombs and 15 detonators from there, police said.
