Nepal: Supreme Court Orders The Release Of CPN (Majority) GS Dharmendra Bastola - good news - maximum support the belections' boykott!

Kathmandu, February 26, 2026: The Supreme Court has issued a habeas corpus order for the release of Communist Party of Nepal (Majority) General Secretary Dharmendra Bastola “Kanchan”. A joint bench of Justices Kumar Regmi and Nityananda Pandey issued the order on Wednesday.

Bastola had been arrested by the police on charges of being involved in activities aimed at boycotting the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5.

Following the arrest of Bastola, Sabitri Kumari Oli filed a habeas corpus petition at the Supreme Court, naming as defendants the chief of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku; the chief of the District Police Range, Kathmandu; the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office; the District Police Range, Kathmandu; the District Administration Office, Kathmandu; and its chief district officer.

Acting on the petition, the court ordered the release of Bastola.
