Varavara Pays Tribute to Slain Maoist in Nalgonda
NALGONDA:Revolutionary writer Varavara Rao on Sunday slammed the Centre and State governments for adopting a fascist attitude towards organisations working for the poor and the downtrodden. Rao, who visited Suryapet to pay tributes to K Vivek, a Maoist who was killed in an alleged encounter in the neighbouring Chhattisgarh, alleged that the encounter was fake. “Police killed three Maoists who went there to enquire about the problems of tribals,’’ he said.

He said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had surpassed both AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and former CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy in implementing anti-Maoist policies. Before elections, KCR had promised that his party would implement the Maoist agenda for public welfare, he recalled and questioned, “Where is Maoist agenda in the State?’’ He, however, clarified they had never asked KCR to implement Maoist agenda in the state. “It is KCR mark of politics,’’ he remarked and demanded a judicial probe into the Chhattisgarh encounter in which Vivek and two women Naxalites were gunned down. Rao said Vivek was highly qualified and generous. “He joined the Maoist movement last year and worked hard to solve tribals’ problems. He also strived hard during the Telangana agitation,” he reminisced.
