Comrades,
Here in the U.S. we have been
doing some solidarity work to free G.N. Saibaba and push to end the outrageous
attacks by the Indian government on democratic rights and dissent. We write to
share some of our work and extend comradely greetings.
We have been inspired by a lot
of different activism internationally for Saibaba and the broader movement in
India that you have posted online. For people in the U.S. who are not familiar
with the situation in India, it can clarify further the basis for an
internationalist approach to see that people in Sweden, Italy, the UK, Brazil,
and elsewhere have come together to call for an end to Saibaba’s cruel
imprisonment. With the recent arrest of Varavara Rao and others, the Indian
state seems to be deepening its attacks on democratic rights and dissent. Given
these developments, internationalist work to support the people’s movements in
India is all the more necessary and urgent.
We have an online petition,
which has served as one way to coordinate our work, which is located here: https://www.change.org/p/free-saibaba-us-free-dr-saibaba-and-oppose-the-suppression-of-dissent-in-india
We have also posted a few
statements about developments in Saibaba’s case and developments in India more
broadly.
One about the arrest of 5
activists in connection with the Bhima Koregaon event: https://www.change.org/p/free-saibaba-us-free-dr-saibaba-and-oppose-the-suppression-of-dissent-in-india/u/23044993
On the recent arrest of
Varavara Rao and others, in connection with the same case: https://www.change.org/p/free-saibaba-us-free-dr-saibaba-and-oppose-the-suppression-of-dissent-in-india/u/23214419
Comradely greetings,
The Free Saibaba Coalition,
US
