Maoist Leader Bhagya @rupi was immortalized on 13th of this month in Chote Betiya, Kanker district of Chhattisgarh. The police grabbed her and shot her. Rupi didn't surrender, so they killed her. Revolutionary warrior Comrade Bhagya @ Rupi decided to continue the struggle and went ahead.
A guide to generations to come. Comrade Rupi has perished but leaves behind a soul which will plant seeds for new roses to bloom. Her life and ending serves as testament or metaphor that the spirit of revolution or Maoism can never be undone. Bhagya’s transition into a full-fledged revolutionary and the path of a journey stood as a testament to the immortality of a Maoist revolutionary.
Mirudoddi lost its solitary fighter. Bhagya joined the guerrilla force in 2002. Siddipet district has been the breeding ground of many revolutionaries as its role for the revolution of this country. Many children have written the name of that district in red letters, marking it as a permanent symbol or pillar of the revolution. Comrade Bhagya Rupee has carved a niche amongst those people. Tears were shed after the bootakapu encounter held in Dandakaranya's North Buster Division (Kanker District) on 13th April.
She symbolised the remaining few people have shed their last blood for the people in the hope of maintaining the right path of revolution. The coming generations will remember the form of comrade as a great warrior who raised the revolutionary flag and maintained the path of revolution.
Weeks after a series of surrenders marking the collapse of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) in the country, security forces Monday killed an Area Committee-level cadre in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker.
Kanker Superintendent of Police Nikhil Rakhecha said that the cadre, identified as Rupi, was the last surviving Maoist cadre from the Telugu state. Additionally, she was also the wife of slain Maoist commander Vijay Reddy, who was killed in an encounter by the forces in the state’s Mohala-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district in August last year.
Rupi happened to be the 28th Maoist cadre to have been killed in an encounter in the Bastar region. In the first four months of this year, nearly 400 Maoist cadres have surrendered their weapons and joined the mainstream in Bastar.
Highlights of Political Journey
Comrade Bhagya was not educated like many girls but was a hard worker. By the time she reached her youth stage, the waves of revolution in Telangana were skyrocketing. Even facing the confinement of fire, the villages protected the 'brothers'. The technical name of revolutionaries is 'Annalu'. Village people know that that name is not limited to only one man. All of them are brothers and sisters who used to protect the guerrilla forces with knives in their eyes. Our Bhagyakka is among those who protected like that. Bhagyakka didn't stop at all. She thought out loud. South Telangana Revolutionary movement has suffered a lot at that time. It became skyrocketing that the troops continue there. Comrade Bhagya tenaciously stood alongside the guerrillas working in their region, amidst the harshest adversity.
2003 was turning point in the history in the North Telangana Revolutionary Movement. The same year the party decided in the plenum to strategically switch the revolutionary forces of the Revolutionary Movement to protect them. South Telangana has already crossed that level. From there, it has become very difficult to protect the remaining troops of the Revolutionary Movement .. Comrade Bhagya was escorted out by the party as part of the strategy in protecting the remaining troops there. Comrade Suguluri Chinnanna who was already involved in external affairs, of the party married her. That was the year 2006, the last year when the remaining revolutionary forces of the Andhra Pradesh Revolutionary Movement were moved mainly to AOB, Dandhra Pradesh.
Comrades Chinanna in the background, Bhagyalu reached the peak in mid-2007. Comrade Chinna has transformed into Vijay and Comrade Bhagya Rupee. A bird name in Rupee forest.. Comrade Rupi's revolutionary tenure in the movement in Dandakaranaya lasted from 2007 to 13 April 2026. She was ultimately murdered by a police informer. With her just four days before her death, the guard she was protecting surrendering to police is the final step leading to her euthanasia. Comrade Rupi who has been surviving in the midst of many betrayals for the past years, could not be revealed this time. Things have just turned that bad. Even amidst the gravest perils , her unwavering dedication in achieving her ambition symbolises revolutionary sacrifice.
She worked as a party member in the guerrilla force. But then she joined the neighboring North Buster division for party needs. Since the first time Comrade Vijay reached the area, the area faced severe police arrests. Nevertheless, the party worked tirelessly to sustain the revolution by organizing the people of the region. Along with Comrade Vijay, Comrade Rupi, in that effort, retained an indelible role in the history of the movement.
Comrade Rupi has taken up the responsibilities of the movement in Partapur area after reaching North Buster. Comrade Rupi faced many problems initially like all those who come from the field areas and join the jungle movement. As she was diagnosed with polio, she also had trouble walking. She would persevere daily to overcome that problem. The difficulties of the guerrilla's life, she got used to it in her immortality itself. Learnt the language of the native people. Owns their eating habits and lifestyle. Guerrilla made them part of life.
Comrade Rupi first worked as the in charge of Women's Association (Revolutionary Adivasi Women's Association). and then in 2013 the area became a member of the AC. She reflected every quality of the life of a guerrilla,-every problem encountered in working among people is resolved with revolutionary perseverance, disciplined argumentative dialogues, criticism-self-criticism in meetings. She participated actively and fervently in the division party meetings held in 2015, 2020. She was a part of the decisions taken by the plenaries and worked hard to implement them.
Partapur is one of the areas with relatively better public foundation in North Buster region. Operation Green Hunt has led to severe problems for the revolutionary movement. Nevertheless, under the leadership of the party there, that AC strived to resolve them and faced multiple police encounters amid numerous accidents. Comrade Rupee was one of them.
2014-15 can be said to be a crucial turning point in taking over legal battles in the invasion. As a part of this, an indefinite program of mass praja dharna has been started in Vechghat to implement PESA (extension of panchayats to tribal areas) under the slogan of people's power over Jal-Jangal-Zameen in North Basar from December 2022. Intellectuals, students, representatives of various political parties, many tribal communities and powers across the country have declared their solidarity on that just people issue. That strike lasted for more than three years despite all the obstacles. Comrade Rupi played a pivotal role in that effort. , exuding great tenacity and courage.
Climax of Death
By the time of 2024 the attacks on the revolutionary movement splurged at an unprecedented level. The mass carnage in the Northbuster division on 16 April apts marked a fundamental shift in those attacks. Following that, in the series of attacks, the party chief secretary and several CC co-workers from various levels of leadership forces, agile young guerrillas, and the raging revolutionaries shed tears in the pursuit of the goals.
In this scenario new, the armed struggle was being compromised. It was strongly opposed by Comrade Rupee and along with her, a few other comrades also stood armed in the movement. Despite the news that comrades shed tears in their consecutive encounters, some abandoning weapons on the path of armed combat due to changing circumstances, and sending messages to surrender in changing circumstances, Comrade Rupee unwaveringly continued on her hosen path, condemning them indiscriminately.
In the last stage, surrounded by many police camps, with minimum security among informers scarce,
on 13th April a police informer came to know the presence of Comrade Rupee, ad immediately conveyed the information to the police,.Comrade Rupee was arrested and murdered by the police.
Appraisal of Qualities and mark left behind
Her sacrifice was a reflection of unrelenting protest, and perseverance. She found a place to stand amidst the crumbling peaks. While the revolution transcended the heart of the people of this country with one hand, Rupi wanted to safeguard it with her presence, with an iron hand. This aspiration engineered the transition of a seed blossoming into a lotus and lit the fields. She experimented for revolution to the last drop of her blood., reinventing methods
Amidst the scorching heat, with the throat is leaking, she welcomed death,
She was a living example of love but not without reason. after deeply diving into the revolution. She personified the philosophical belief that the light will shine after overcoming the darkness. and wisdom of historical truth will come forward by replacing the adverse time.
Bhagya was a metaphor of all the warriors, unrelentingly battling the harshest barriers to kep the revolutionary flame breathing. Even After March 31 deadline in 'Maoist free India' her conviction in not surrendering recreates a whole new cosmic wave that stands up with the setting sun. She propelled perpetual movement of truth in nature which cements the magnificent human journey forward. In this world surrounded by talkers who say anything can be done, any argument can be done if you pretend on 'situations', the decision you have taken is history.
Raji Roopi ‘s life and end symbolised that one can’t live if you surrender... and that those who are dead are the ones who have to be blessed.
She dispelled the illusions that only revisionist will emerge from the revolutionary movement, Even after ending up in Surajkund facing the perils of fascist terror, she lived and died as a Maoist.
History stood next to Comrade Bhagya who finally became history and epitomised human nature for historical consciousness.
