..STF jawan injured in Naxal attack
A personnel of Special Task Force (STF) of Chhattisgarh Police was injured in a skirmish with Naxals in Sukma district. Additional Superintendent of Police, Sukma, Santosh Sinh told PTI that Tilak Patel, a jawan, was injured in an encounter between Naxals and police in a forest near Palamdagu under Dornapal police station limits today. The rebels attacked an STF team, which was patrolling the area and the latter retaliated, he said, adding that the gun-battle went for nearly one hour. Additional force has been sent to the area, while a chopper has been sent from Raipur to airlift the injured jawan.
Maoists kill village guard, slit throat
Suspected Maoists have killed a gram rakshi (village guard) on charges of being a police informer at a village in Koraput district’s Pottangi block last night, police said on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Jagu (30), who was attached to the Pottangi police station. Police officers said a group of at least three Maoists reached the home of Jagu at Peteru village, under Pottangi police limits at around 7.30 PM and opened fired on him after inquiring about his identity.
“Jagu was sitting on the veradah of his home. The three Maoists reached there inquired about our identities. No sooner Jagu revealed his identity, they fired on him,” a villager said adding “After Jagu succumbed to the bullet, the Maoists slit his throat.” A letter recovered from the spot revealed that Jagu was punished for working as a police informer and going as guide during combing operations in the area.

A Jeweller was seriously injured when Maoists attacked him with sharp edged weapons at a weekly market in the insurgency-hit Dantewada district, ..., Maoists are observing week-long ‘Jan Pituri Saptah’ in the red zone and Friday was the first day of the week. The Maoists, according to experts, observe this week in the memory of their slain leaders and they also focus on new recruitment during the movement during this period.
