Author’s Note: Dedicated to Chairman Gonzalo, who was finally assassinated after being imprisoned for 29 years on September 11, 2021, by the old Peruvian state with its intentional medical neglect and slow and steady torture. Chairman Gonzalo was the head of the red line of the International Communist Movement and the Great Leader of the Communist Party of Peru and the Peruvian People’s War! While his life has ended, his thought–Gonzalo Thought–lives on as the command and guide of the people’s war in Peru. Chairman Gonzalo’s contributions to the ideology of the international proletariat live on, too, as a source of universal lessons given to the fighting proletariat and oppressed peoples of the world in the Era of Strategic Offensive of World Proletarian Revolution where imperialism will be swept from the face of the earth as the proletariat marches to a world without exploitation or misery.

Long live Chairman Gonzalo and his all-powerful thought!

Some still ask,
who is Chairman Gonzalo
all these years later
after the red sun
has settled on the mountains –

spilling over,
all over the world,
painting everything deep red –

warming the beautiful,
brutal and brown faces and hands
of the peasants and
workers.

Reaction smiles its sinister smile,
the state and snakes embrace
in unholy consummation
and try to kill him again –
a second death.

But we the workers, we the peasants,
we the intellectuals, we the fighters,
we the prisoners of starvation,
we the wretched of the earth,
we are on guard like sentries
in service of the proletariat
and its party,

and the masses surge
in a great wave of rage
drowning them:

This is how we mourn!
This is how we remember!
This is how we avenge!
– with the privilege to punish
the guilty with blood on their hands,
to mark their sentences with fire.
