Nepal - CPN-M preparing for “peoples’ revolution”: Thapa - Govt accused of ‘terrorising’ the Maoists

MAHENDRANAGAR: CPN-Maoist General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa said that his party is gearing up for historical revolution against status-quo and regression, that, according to him, came to rise after the second Constituent Assembly. Speaking at a press conference organised in Mahendranagar on Thursday, he said that the party has been organising district conferences in all the districts of the country, for the same.
He was of the opinion that the protest would intensify prior to the promulgation of the constitution. “Country is lurking through political crisis. The crisis will come to an end after the revolution of the CPN-Maoist,” he said. According to him, the longstanding political standoff should be resolved through all party political assembly.

KATHMANDU: The CPN-Maoist has accused the government of terrorizing the party by enforcing ‘unilateral’ decision to arrest its party leaders and cadres against the spirit of Interim Constitution and Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA). In a strong worded statement released today, the party condemned the government’s recent efforts stirring up war-era cases. The party also demanded the immediate release of its cadres booked on charge of 2004 murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari of Gorkha in Chitwan.
According to the CPN-Maoist, no war-era cases should be dealt by the judiciary until the formation of Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and Commission on Inquiry of Enforced Disappearances (CID). Chitwan District Attorney on Sunday had filed murder charge-sheet against 13 Maoist cadres on charge of murdering Adhikari of Gorkha. The party has also said that the peace process has come to a halt with such unilateral actions of the government. The party further demanded that the cases registered against its cadres be withdrawn at the earliest. “If not, the government will be solely responsible for the potential consequences,” the disgruntled party warned.
