India Modi's visit in Jharkhand in a fear's climate

RANCHI: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi April 24 visit to Jamshedpur the state police have launched a well-designed counter Maoist offensive on the outskirts of the steel city. The operation is focused on sanitization, cordon and search, area domination, long range patrolling and intelligence gathering on Maoists’ movements.
Right before PM visit, suspected Maoists attacked a CRPF camp located 25km from Jamshedpur with bombs and also dropped anti-Modi posters. The attack site (Jadugora) is only 25km from the venue where Modi’s event is being organized.
ADG operations S N Pradhan said the police headquarters has instructed the district police for forces deployment and asked them to carry on the offensive especially in Jharkhand-West Bengal and Jharkhand-Orissa border till PM’s visit is over.
In posters dropped at the CRPF camp Maoists condemned ‘Modi’s pro capitalist policies’ and demanded that the Uranium Corporation of India Limited, India’s flagship uranium mining and processing unit under Department of Atomic Energy, be shut down because it is polluting the atmosphere around Jadugora. “It is a coincidence that the posters have been dropped by the Maoists just ahead of Modi visit. The content of the posters are an extension of what they have in past, it has no specific connections with Modi visit. The posters’ content are not designed against Modi’s visit,” Jamshedpur SSP Anoop Mathew said.
Situated between Maoists-dominated East Singhbhum and Saraikela Kharsawa districts, urban Jamshedpur is free of Maoist activities, but its outskirts report dominating presence of Maoists. During Modi visit the police target to keep them confined in the outskirts.
Maoist attack on the CRPF camp and dropping posters have caused a concern in IB and Special Protection Group whose officials are camping in Jamshedpur. “The central agencies are gathering information of the incident,” a police source said.

The Intelligence bureau has instructed the district police not to keep security measures confined into the town – Narendra Modi will address over 33 lakh panchayat representatives from JRD Tata sports complex located in the centre of city well-fortified for PM visit.
CRPF, Jharkhand Armed Police, Jharkhand Jaguar (state’s special force to fight Maoists), besides the district police are busy sanitizing the vulnerable areas. “In all strategic locations the area domination exercises are on,” Pradhan said.
