Afghanistan - Afghan protesters hold massive anti-US rally in Herat
Province Hundreds of angry protesters have staged a massive rally to protest against the killing of a student by US forces in Afghanistan’s western province of Herat. Afghan demonstrators gathered in the town of Shindand to voice their anger at the death of a medical student and the presence of foreign forces.
Eyewitnesses and local residents said a large number of protestors poured onto streets of the town, chanting anti-American slogans and torching American flags and effigies of US President Barack Obama. They also urged officials to stop military operations in the area. According to provincial officials, the Afghan student was killed during a joint military operation launched on Zirkouh village of Shindand district by the Afghan army and US forces.
