Anti
Imperialist Action Ireland condemns the early morning raid on the home
of a Dublin Republican this morning by the Free State Special Branch.
The
Republican activist has been arrested and is currently being held in a
free state barracks. We demand that the Republican be immediately
released and returned to his family and his community.
Raids
such as this, carried out by armed free state police, are designed to
intimidate and harass Republicans and their families in an attempt to
isolate them from their communities. This tactic has always failed and
instead shows that the free state continues to see Revolutionary Irish
Socialist Republicanism as a threat and use such tactics in an attempt
to break it. It hasn’t worked before and it won’t work now.
While
the free state harass, raid and arrest Republican Activists, criminals
who plague working class communities are let operate with impunity to
keep our class distracted from our real enemies, the Free State, British
Imperialism and NATO in Ireland.
AIA,
our members and supporters will not be intimidated or prevented from
pursuing our legitimate objectives for National Liberation and Socialism
in Ireland. In the words of James Connolly- ‘We defy you- do your
worst!’
We have no doubt this Republican will be released without charge and will be back with family and community very shortly.
